Default need help to bring my Virus kb back to life

OK, so i have a mint looking Virus kb, but haven't used it in the past 5 years
worked fine the last time I used it
so I wanted to start using it again
and when I swith it on, I just get the display backlit, nothing is shown on the display

I swapped the internal battery
I checked the PSU with a voltmeter, it is still working fine
what can I do
there is a faint whiny sound, barely audible, coming from within

what else can I do
start soldering caps on the MB or what ?

thanks already for helping me

OK, so it's also not the brown cap that is the culprit

OK there's an issue with the +12 to +5 converter stage
instead of replacing all the caps cos I'm a lazy bastard
I'm just going to hack that
wish me luck
