Hi there,

I'm thinking about buying a Virus Rack Classic...Having heard lot's of great stories about the Virus B, I want to know if the Rack Classic also is that great or does it really miss that 3rd oscillator? I'll try before I'll buy offcourse, but just playing around with it in a shop won't be enough to make up my mind...

Btw I want to use it for hardcore/gabber, so I want lot's of agressive sounds (And I want 'm to be different then the Alpha Juno 'cause I've already got one which I'm selling in order to get me the Virus :))

Thanx in advance!

Nordlead is more angry in my opinion.

Virus has more beautyful sounds.

wrote you a pm !!!

i use the virus for the same kind of music :-) and you can get lots of weird sounds out of this mashine !!!

aggressive, spooky... pads... even brutal bassdrums are possible..
the key is, to route the modulation on the right things... :-)
i love my virus !!! wish i had more time to play with it !!

in my opion the sub osc. is a great thing.. i use it very much... test it before you choose. every sounds gets 100x phatter !!! hehe

nordlead has less voices.. and believe me.. you need them all...

I know that the Virus B sounds great, I only want to know if the Rack Classic also sounds great (since there are less options on sound creating then on the virus b)

Well, ordered it anyway...Can exchange it for someting else in 8 day's if I don't like it...But I'll probably like it :)

In the most of the cases...

It dont..

I usaully use 2 oscallator and sub...or less

Sometimes it happens i use the third.

I can say that it wont do so much difference in most cases.. Mostly pads u need tons of osc.

The rack sounds very good I have tried. It is a virus.

The Rack has less effects, checkout the comparisn chart:

http://www.access-music.de/comparisonchart.php4

As I remember it, the distorsion in the Rack is only per voice and not per part. But according to the chart that seems not to be the case!? Someone who owns the Rack?

Did you end up trying the Nords since then? If so what did you think?

I reckon the Virus is a much more aggressive synth than the nord....Actually, more EVIL! The nord has aggressive acid leads...but yeah, the Virus is just plain EVIL. Perfect for Gabber/Hardcore

yeah i bought a nord rack 1 :)

i like it, i think that the nord plus a virus is a perfect combination (i'm anxious to put the nord through the input of the virus :D)

i do think btw the nord is agressive in a somewhat different way than the virus...the virus has more posibilities to make an agressive sound, but it has this nice edge to everything that i got out of it...the nord has a more raw sound, pretty thin but cool...just a very typical sound...i do like to use some distortion on it, that's where the virus comes in real handy and to fill it up with warmer sounds

I think the Nord can pump out very raw sounding leads indeed. I'd say hard metalic FM leads are much more aggresive on the Nord, but the Virus can do dark and eary much better.

They do compliment each other well though IMO.

I experimented alot running the nord through the VC actually. If you wanna hear some, go to the soundclick link in my signature. Or better still plug your Nord into your Virus. Hehehe

I've been playing around with it for 2 days now and damn this thing kicks serious ass :D

not only does it real good hardcoresounds itself, with my nord in the external input I get real dirty strange freaky sounds, just what i was looking for :D

and i just made one of my best hardcorekicks ever with it, straight from the box

i'm in love
