Is there a synth commonly used in House-productions? Especially for French House... I am after bass and lead sounds...
tnx

many people say Supernova II is good for house

Yes most people use the SN II for house. As a cheaper alternative try the Novation KS5. Errmm...on second thoughts...just buy a second hand SNII !!

Just remember......ANY synth can be used for ANY type of music. It is largely down to how you program the thing and how you use effects etc etc. Whats more important is whether you like the tone of say, a Nord over a Novation. But fundementally both synths can create the same sound.

Especially if you are into the real bass guitar sound.

I'm not being rude, but virtually any synth in the world can write house music! Even one of the first casios could be quite useful.....

I already own an Akai 3000XL sampler...
My next synth will probably be a good old analogue Juno 106 as it was recommended on several other forums... and it is Daft Punk's favourite one :D
After that I will look for a SN II.
tnx guys...

Nord 2 with good outboard effects or JP8000. Both are sensible purchases IMHO

Wait a sec.. someone said "don't buy a virus".

Why not? You can make the virus sound like pretty much anything out there.. it's a PHAT synth.

Since you're in a virus group, I'm presuming you already own a virus. If you use only the stock sounds (patches) on a synth, you may never come up with any original sounds.. tweak 'em.. love 'em.. CREATE. You _do_ wanna come up with original music don't you?

JP8000.

A friend of mine (Steve Porter) uses the JP8080 for most of his bass lines and they are some of the best sounding basses i've heard (although he is also a filter freak so i'm sure that he effects the hell out of them).

I'm looking into getting a second hand JP8080 when I get back from my Hawaii vacation in May, but who knows maybe i'll have the TI waiting for me when I get back and will be to busy indulging in it's greatness :( .

I owned an EMU Orbit 9090. Sold it because it can?t do trancy stuff. I thought I would keep it if I would make house.

Great for basses and pads. Really deep machine (or something). Some famous house producers still use it. A bit old fashioned thou. But cheap. Check it out.
