I have heard that she was married to a top synth designer..

I mailed her regarding hearing some of her stuff, but she said that she doesn't really have anything to show at the moment!!!!! Too much gear i think, but best of luck to her! She seems a nice enough girl..

She has just finished working on some sort of music sequencer for the mac..

Personally i think it's overkill, but nice overkill at that!

I have a Virus KC, a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX with ONE unbalanced 1/4" input. Jealous? Not to mention, I am currently at -$2680... i payed off $1200 of the virus KC so far.

I'm also monitoring from a 4.1 Altec system. Not stereo monitors. SHOOT ME IMMEDIATLY. Although I do have an AKG K240 headphones. Ooh. And a Shure SM58... OOH. And a flimsy shotgun stand.

Did I mention shoot me? :D

At school we use an SSL E retrofit G console, Pro-tools LE as well as a Pro-Tools 5.1 setup post room with the digidesign console, etc.

Shoot me anyways.

Hi!
I mostly use the VM200 as a Midicontroller, because of the Midi-Motorfaders...
The EQs are great, but forgett about the FX:
First they don?t sound as good as they say in prospect (my Alesis Microverb sounds better...)
second both of the FX-processors broke down - after 2 years of little use they only produce digital noise now!!!!
The Hardware is very good and stable, it has lot?s of connections like S/Pdif in/out, adat in/out, 8 x XLR, Aux-outs etc.
You can send the Main-Out S/Pdif from one VM to the S/Pdif - In of the other... so it?s "pseudo-hook" them 8)

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I *am* the most carefull man if it?s coming on drinks in my studio...!
None of my friends likes to have a drink when sitting in the studioroom, because of me saying every 5 seconds:
"watch out with your coke! If you?ll drop it, then I will X$?X(&X?$X&X$?X you!!!"

Glad to hear you have finally got your Virus Hollowcell!!! You have waited long enough.. :D

So what do you think of your new baby?

Absolutely love it!!!!

ive spent almost 7 hours on it today!!! programing/routing and re-routing...basicly putting it through the ringer!!

i ask everyone this....who has sent a wicked nordlead sound (notch filtered), into the virus and routed that signal thru the lfo-ed effected filters of the virus?

if you havent.....try it!!!!

i never actually thought of trying that..

is it possible to run the nord through the virus using it's effects as well as using patches from the virus at the same time?

or does it have to be set to an input patch with no synth preset set?

sounds good DS

Yep, its possible alright....i wrote this down on another thread...this is exactly what i did...hold on, ill just copy it from that thread...

for example today...i routed a notch filtered lead sound form the nord into the virus...the viruses filters cutoffs were controled by the lfos....i also attached the mod wheel to control the level of cutoff, plus fm on just the nord.....when i would wind up the mod wheel...the fm off the nord would come in at the same time the virus filters were cutting off in lfo-ed tempo....

at the same time as this was happening...i routed another virus part (using a virus sound on different outputs, so i wouldnt create a loop) into the virus inputs too.....this sound was effected by the same lfos and filters as the nord sound......

it was like merging one virus sound and a nord sound (notchfiltered) together....but so they would sound as one...routing them both thru the same filters on the virus (lfoed) gave them a playable collective sound....

u can also route signals interenaly too in the virus...but i havnet got round to trying that yet...(ive only had the thing 3 days)....

i did it in multi-single mode....1st part-virus synth sound going out on outputs 2 and 3.....the second part-(routed inputed signal) , going out on output 1 and 2....then i routed the 1st part of the virus and the nord together into the inputs...creating one signal.....

man thats difficult to explain in writing....long thread too.....

now back to the whats your studio look like thread!

I then use the midiman usb to send the midi note data, which i merged at the midi input of the synths using the midi merge box

well that's all for now

Wow, Aurora, four monitors must be nice. How would you go about choosing what monitor your mouse will be on?

Aurora
04.11.2003, 09:54 AM
2 of the monitors.. far left and right are linked to my main machine..
I am running and extended desktop left to right..

Far Left monitor runs Sonar, Far right runs DSPCTRL software for my dsp factory

The bottom monitor (laptop tft) and the top middle are also linked again via an extended desktop.. bottom to top..

Laptop monitor runs Reason Sequencer view, top middle has the reason virtual rack

both my laptop and main DAW are networked and midi synced so everything works together..

Works really well.. couldn't go back one monitor..

Also has a Star Trek feel to it

Wow, Aurora, four monitors must be nice. How would you go about choosing what monitor your mouse will be on?

i just aquired 3 matching cheap crt 17inch screens (gotta love companies switching to tft!).

so now im running 2 off my DAW, and there is a third that wont fit on the desk, so its staying as my spare or ill hook it up to the laptop.

i really wish i did this earlier!! having songs laid out over 2 screens has been great!! also mastering or wave editing is convienient when having all effects and tools on the second screen. i wont be going back to just 1.

Hi Guys,
We have a problem. I have noticed we have 2 of these threads happening now. This thread was part of a split taken from the other thread. You'll notice there are very few pics of setups here. That's because all the pics are in a seperate thread. Rather than have 2 threads filling disc space, one has to be locked, then later deleted and as this one has less pictures it has to be this one.

Sorry for the hassle Royal Tee and Jasedee, but can you make new posts (if you haven't already) in the other thread.

Here's the link
http://www.sunesha.nu/virusforum/viewtopic.php?t=2079

Sorry again guys.
