I usually just use the midi out port on synths, and plug it into my midi in port on my 2496, and live record over it.......now that I have the virus, alot of patches have effects on them, so I can't sync the playing up with the notes..........so, my question is, are you all running midi out (from the sequencer or host) back to your virus, so it plays the notes right, or are most of you, recording all night, until you nail the perfect recording.
I ask because I am thinking, it would be A WHOLE lot easier, to set up the midi out and select a port, then have the virus accept "x" port, and then it can play your midi notes you recorded quantized, chopped, etc etc etc.

I use fl studio btw, and setting up midi outs is a breeze, so I figured I could buy another midi cable, and go from PC/MAC to midi in on our synth, and then make the according changes for the virus to see the midi notes............viola, it's played back with your track "spot" on, and you just have to record the audio playing the notes, you already recorded (and are playing back).....

Good idea, someone is doing this already, etc etc etc?????

My machinedrum is my midi sequencer. I only record audio when I finished and want to have an mp3 or some audio file I want to share. I don't bother with audio sequencing.

i run midi out from my PC based sequencer to all my equipments ins!

the only stuff i have going to the PC midi ins are the things i want to control...eg:nord, roland controller and HPD15 drum pad....

i actually dont run midi out of the viurs at all at the moment as my nords knobs can controll most of the viruses front pannel...i just use the virus front pannel when making patches...

in short, run midi out from ya PC to the virus...with the midi clock send option on too....that way the virus will not only sync to the tempo of ya sequencer, but u will be able to edit your notation after if u wish!

By which I mean, more than just drummachine-style sequencing? Full tracks, with MIDI keynotes and whatnot?

I don't know what you mean by MIDI keynotes? But yea you can make midi sequences. You don't have live record from any midi keyboard (yet). And the sequencer is pretty much monophonic for each track. You get 16 tracks of midi. You have to program it all with the knobs and buttons.
