hi all,

finding this sites a god send as im getting a virus but before i do can i have ur help please.....

i was using desttop xp2100 512 ddr 3200 win2k sb live with modded drivers
with
vst loads of soft synths(dont like em much)
a roland jv1080 and a kiawa k4 keyboard

i have just brought a laptop
xp2500 , 512ddr 3200, 60g hd winxp

roland jv1080 +3 exp boards
kiawa k4 keyboard

i am about to buy a audiophile usb 2496
and a virus c

but, should i buy a virus c and just use the keyboard to controll both synths
or
should i get the virus kc and leave the kiawa to control the roland, obviously if i did that id need more that the 1 midi i/o on the audiophile
or
could i make the kiawa redundant and control the roland using the virus kc???(is this a bad idea?)

im a bit confused, and given the price difference in c and kc its worth investigating.

many thanks
Glen

Very good feel on Virus' keyboard. "I like 'em a lot". Some people say they're too bouncy for fast playing but I don't seem to notice that problem. If you play (really play) keyboards, Virus kB/kC is great master keyboard!

should i get the virus kc and leave the kiawa to control the roland, obviously if i did that id need more that the 1 midi i/o on the audiophile

You could do that. I think it might be even better when you could play the synth sounds on the Virus and the sample based stuff on the other keyboard.

Not a bad idea, but it might cause a bit more work to fiddle with channels.

As I said the keyboard of kC is great! You're going to love it!

What I would do is to keep the Kiawa and buy kC (if you can afford). That way you don't have to get insane with channels.

But of course if you feel comfortable with channel tweaking, sell the Kiawa.

hell, wasnt expecting such a quick responce, cheers J

well im not averse to sorting channels but as you say it may end up insane,

so i have 2 more questions if i may,

1) what should i expect to pay after a bit a badgering  the only place i can find with a price is ?1429 others are poa, so what did you guys end up paying roughly where would u recomend shopping

2)if i go kc (i am guessing here) will i need more than 1 midi i/o in sound card
ie kiawa(attached to roland ) midi i/o
virus midi i/o
=2 sound card midi i/o's needed

or could i use the thrus and loopit all
= only 1 midi i/o

if id need 2 is it just a case of bying a usb midi i/o box??

im gettig exicted already and ive not even ordered anything yet

I live here.

Hmm... Not sure about the price level in UK but the average price here is about 1990?, which is about ?1300 (if I got the currency exchange rate right).

2)if i go kc (i am guessing here) will i need more than 1 midi i/o in sound card
ie kiawa(attached to roland ) midi i/o
virus midi i/o

That won't be a problem because you can get USB MIDI interfaces with few ten pounds.

or could i use the thrus and loopit all
= only 1 midi i/o

Could get ugly. It's easier to to get a bigger MIDI interface.

if id need 2 is it just a case of bying a usb midi i/o box??

Sure. As I wrote above. Get a MIDI interface with few I/O's that you have a room for expansion later.

That's just GAS*, my friend.

Well just think it over well without hesitation so that you don't have to beat yourself senseless after some "If I just would thought that earlier" monoloque.

Be aware with Turnkey. Digital Screams had a serious trouble with Turnkey (use search to find that thread) and at least I wouldn't carry even a cent in that store.
