I'm pretty sure that you're able to upgrade the rack classic inte an XL by replacing some Eprom or something. The problem is that I just can't find information about this anywhere. Is there really some upgrading kit or something to buy, and where?
No, its not an EEPROM replacement.
You mail your rack off to Access, and they rip the motherboard out and replace it with a proper C-series one.

Because the motherboard includes processor, memory etc. There's hardly nothing left on your Virus when you remove the motherboard.

I'm sure Ben or Marc or TK would know better than myself; but I'm pretty sure I read that Access is no longer doing this upgrade, I think it was only for a limited time. But like I said, they probably know better....
That sounds right. No upgrade offer anymore.

Well, I suppose it was a little too expensive for my taste anyway.

Remember, this isn't a mass-produced computer motherboard we're talking about, so you cannot compare prices with the likes of Asus etc. The price would also need to be a bit more than the difference between the Rack Classic and XL, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense from a marketing point of view, as the Classic is still a current product.
Anyway, this is all pretty much irrelevant as the upgrade is no longer available AFAIK.
