View Full Version : How do you dump banks C & D to a sequencer?

Ive backed up A & B... but how do I dump (In their entirety) banks in the rom?

I don't think you can...not directly anyway.
You have to copy every patch into Banks A or B then dump.
Very boring and time consuming.

If you have SoundDiver I think you can 'retrieve' banks C-H and then save them as Midi Files...which is obviously a much better idea.

Dammit....thought so. Jesus i dont think I can be arsed to dump sounds one by one into bank A or B.

Hmmm.....

And I dont use sounddriver thingy either hmmmmm.....

Switch on your Virus whilst pressing STORE. This puts it into OS update mode (which isn't needed anymore). Now use the select button to choose SEND, and then select SECOND. Start your sequencer recording and press STORE again - banks C - H will now be dumped as a second.mid file.

Be warned however, that many sequencers/midi interfaces will struggle with the large amount of sysex data involved, so you might want to check it by playing it back afterwards - if there were any errors, you will get a 'Checksum Error' message.

(Dunno if it would help at all, but if you run into trouble it might be an idea to try recording at quite a high tempo, so the data is spread over a wider 'area'.)

Nope its not in manual b'cos this feature was introduced in OS6. The current manual refers to OS 5 features.
