Hi guys :)

Here is my question...
Let's say I'm using 5 different patches on 5 different midi channels from the Virus in my latest project...Is there a way for me to put different effects in real-time on each part using only one audio output?

what do you mean?

if you're talking about virus effects, the answer is yes except for delay and reverb
if you are talking about external effects, then the answer is no! since all the sounds will be on the same output, the external fx box can't guess which one in the output signal has to be affected.

Surely, there's nothing to stop him using the other outputs? With 6 available, there's no reason why different external effects couldn't be applied to 5 different channels. The only sacrifice would be that each part would have to be mono. However, with 3 stereo pairs, there is still quite a lot of flexibility.

Thanks for the answers!
Actually, I can use two stereo output from the virus with my current setup which is still not bad at all :)
I have a total of 3 stereo in on my soundcard but I use the 3rd for my jp-8080...However, I will experiment with the Ext In of the virus in the next few days ;) Maybe I could plug the jp8080 in the virus in and then use all 3 stereo out of the virus!

i dont think the virus can run audio thru itself while using it as a synth

Well actually, I have quite a few inputs on my card but I don't know how to use the digital ones yet!

I have :
2 * 1 mic preamp mono
1 * s/pdif
8 * adat
3 * stereo in

So far I only use the 3 stereo in...I plan to use the mic preamp mono for my fr-777 or use both for my djm500(since both are xlr).

Could I plug the virus in adat?(don't really know about that format...I know what a DAT tape is tho)

Sure it can :-)

Just go to Effects Edit (or System Edit on the Rack versions) and set INPUT GLOBAL Direct Thru to 127.

oh, i too thought it could process either external sounds or internal, and not both at the same time....
