I just got the emux bundle with the 1212m card to.

The soundcard itself is very impressive. Very low latencys using asio and sound quality is awesome. Mixer takes a little bit of getting used to though and its a shame the dsp effects are not vst/dx, they run from with in the mixer which I personally think is lame and a complete waste of time, it almost makes them unusable in a sequencer.

The emux itself is very powerful. Great to use with many options and better than kontakt/halion. Saying that It has a few bugs and odd missing features (no host based automation, no midi learn, library function not working properly) but its still very cool and works well in sx2.

It apparently has the same dacs you find on pro-tools and lynx cards although I dont do any outboard recording so I cant say about that.

Overall great card, great sampler, hope they fix the bugs and give us vst effects.

If you have the time, please keep us posted on how the bug fixes go Ten.

I'm really interesting in this thing myself :) .

I'm slightly confused with the hardware bundles.

For example you get the 1820M bundle and the Emulator X Studio bundle. Hardware wise these seem to be identical.

You also get the 1812 and the Emulator X bundle which again both seem to be identical to each other.

Do you only get the sampling/dsp effects software with the Emultor X packages or something?

1820m bundle has the 1010 soundcard, audiodock and daughterboard.

the 1812 bundle has the 1010 soundcard and audiodock.

the 1212m has has the 1010 soundcard and daughterboard.

Any thing that says emulatorx bundle is one of the above with just the emulator x software included. It is also tied to the card, you cannot use it without one.

One more question. What exactly does the emulator desktop software provide then, is it just a standard soundcard without the emulator x software? Is it the Emux software that provides the sampling and VST instrument functionality?

Cheers

the emux software is just a a standalone sampler and vsti version of it. Very nice it is to, a lot nicer than kontakt/halion etc. The effects come with the software for the soundcard and are run from the mixer (very odd) , they dont come with the emux software. You need the soundcard to run either/or the emux and the effects.

check www.emu.com for more details.
