It depends on what kind of sound you are after, if you are after 505/606/707/808/909-type of sounds then it's better that you just forget about it. But if you are after great experiment-type of sounds, even electricpiano sounds this is the machine for you.

I had alot of fun with mine. i made some really crazy sounds on it. altou i wouldn't recommend it for use in trance only. more in electro-type of music

You can even make filtersweeps, drone-sounds, bass-sounds and so on.. so it's really worth the money if your into that experimental side of electro.

Great fun just sitting with it and programming sounds/drums and making whole songs with it without any other equipment

hey 303, what kind of drum machine would you recommend for TRANZ, psy, hardcore, techno, goa, dnb, hardhouse and ethnic (tablas)
korgs, rolands or any other?
For drums, i use triton studio with tranzattack pcm and dance extreme pcm cards. And now Sh 32 samples too.

Well, It acctually depends.

I would choose two things for drums (and other).

Korg ER-1 (or the new "ER-1", which i can't remember the name of right now)

and a sampler (akai3000xl - or maybe a A3000/4000/5000) which of course is great for other things aswell mate.

Or if you don't got that much money, i'd go for a software drumsynthesizer (like Stomper which can be found here: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~zap/stomper/index2.html - which can make some great kick sounds) and a vsti-sampler, those things should really get you enough drumssounds.

Tablas? hmm, Juho recommended a sample-cd that was aparently good althou i haven't tried it out myself yet and i can't remember the name right now..

errr.. Juho, some help?

Edit: Hardcore = which ever kick you can find but add distortion to it,
Techno = 909 drums of course, same with house music.

I don't actually have one myself, but I have heard a few samples (not with the new OS) and the thing sounds pretty cool. Specially for kicks and the like.

Worth the money? Well, not for the sort of music I tend to make. If I was stinking rich, then maybe I'd splurge out.

for hardcore drums, i use virus with lot of saturation and more distortion.
Virus is very good for hard drums. very punchy and rawass drums :D
