I am a new Virus C user. I have tried to use Sound Diver to back up my patches before doing system updates or loading the additional banks. I have had difficulty similar to many other users who have posted here. Sound Diver fails with with a communication error halfway through requesting my patches. I am going to try the following:

- hit the abort buton when it first tries to detect... Then go into the Midi Settings and Turn the BUFFER and LATENCY settings as small as they will go

I have read many post stating that Sound Diver is sketchy. I am nervous about losing patches. This would be a disaster for me. The version of Sound Diver that came with my virus didn't come with a manual and I have not been able to find one online. Perhaps I havn't looked in the right place. Does anyone know where I can get one? I am interested in the quickest and safest method of backing up my system before I start using Sound Diver for tweaking and loading new banks/patches.

I have heard that Sound Diver has been discontinued. I was unable to purchase the retail version from Emagic. Anyone know where I can get the retail version? They arn't selling manuals either.

Is there a better way to organize patches on my virus than Sound Diver?

Welcome to the forum first of all. :D

You can back up your banks by recording them as a midi file into your sequencer. Then you can give Sounddiver a decent try.

I have heard Sounddiver has trouble with some midi interfaces, but I really don't know - I don't use it and never have tried it.

Good luck.
