View Full Version : Arpeggiator latency

I recently picked up the Virus Classic, and when synching the arpeggiator to Dig Performer it plays back really late. Is there any adjustment I'm missing, other than moving the whole track back 50 ticks? I have to retrigger real often even when moving the track back, and it's less than ideal because it starts the beats in the previous bar, etc.. Thanks.

check to see that your virus is synced.
other then that what i usualy do to esure that there is no letency is just cut the 1-2 miliseconds delay before the audio starts.

"cut the 1-2 miliseconds delay before the audio starts"

Can you give more detail please? Thanks.

after i record to audio
i just use the audio editor in cubase and zoom in on the start point to delete the minor letency.
then it sits perfectly.
if you have any place i can upload picture i can do screen shots with instructions.

You also have to set the tempo in the virus itself.......

Hope that helps, let us know how you go....

Good luck!

You don't have to set the tempo in the Virus itself if you are syncing to an external clock. Even if you set the tempo of the Virus internaly, an external clock will automaticly change the Virus tempo anyway.

It's really hard to try and solve your problem over the net though. I have never had any problem with latency when syncing any of my gear with my sequencer and I'm not sure where to start.

Having to record to audio then move around the file to get it in time would be such a hassle I can't even imagine! Really hope you get it sorted out and sorry I can't be of more help.

Hmmm......I must be doing something wrong then, cos if I want to start using the arpeggiator in the Virus I have to go in and set the tempo so it matches the song I am doing.

I am using SX 2 and Virus Rack XL....does anyone know where I set things so my Virus will sync automatically to the tempo in SX???

Cheers,

Jase

I'd say that SX isn't sending out midi clock in your case Jase. I'm not even sure that you can turn off the receiving of midi clock in the virus itself (well I've never had to turn anything on anyway). I bet you can turn it off somewhere though.

I'm still using VST32 so I can't help you either to find those settings in SX, but the settings in VST are under Options>Synchronization.

You do however have to tell the LFOs to react to incoming midi clock rather than the internal tempo (LFO edit menu). Do your LFOs sync to clock Jase? But once this is set in your Virus, Cubase/host sequencer will tell the Virus what the tempo is, over-riding the tempo set for the patch itself.

Hmmm.......Im not too sure what is going on. I have SX sending MIDI clock to the port which the virus is connected, but still need to set the tempo. Im not even receiving the little c symbol on the virus to show that it is receiving an external clock.

I have a little bit of playing around to do

Well, let us know how you end up guys.

Having everything (by everything I mean Synths/Sampler's LFOs and all internal FX, plus External FX. Not to mention appegiators and Gates) in your set-up synced is great and I couldn't live with out it now.

Hope it all gets sorted out.
