It would have to be "Hyper-colour"

You remember those t-shirts that change colour when you touch your hand to them?????

Well, if Access allow me...and it doesnt cost too much....

Id like to have a different style logo and Id like to have 80's retro funk JP8/OB8 80's style colours on it. I definitely see some JP8 orange and red...and some OB8 Blue. I'd like to replace the grey buttons...with nice colourful JP8 coloured ones!

At least you didn't wake up with your own wad in your pyjamas like last time. Your Mum wouldn't be happy if you did that again! Hehehe

Having some custom graphics done shouldn't be a big deal if you find a good silk screening shop in your area....

DS, the Jupiter has to be one of the ugliest synth ever released! Painting a TI that way will not help re-sale my friend. Hehehe.

while youre there you should get a strobe function added to the illuminated logo for those big eighties build ups

maybe access could include some retro fonts for your ti display

and to top it all off surely theyll throw in a pair of access-branded 'topgun' style sunnies 8)

youll be beating the women off you DS

I was rather hoping that the TI came with an inflatable TopGun leather Jacket.

The truth is...I dont really know how plausible it is to get the graphics changed. As for colours....I think its going to cost way too much.

Did you really get word from somebody at access to to custom paint, I just skimmed through the thread. Im assuming you were joking. Im sure they have no time or interest in custom painting, it would be cool if they offered that for an extran 100 or 2. When buying a piece of gear like that you should be able to customize at least the color scheme. Anyhoo, my point was that I read on some other message board about doing this to a Nord G2 er sumpin. Some one said all you need to do is find a company that paints stove tops or something like that maybe it wasnt stove tops, that sounds even harde to find in the phone book. But apparently there are many other companies that do this for other products. You just take the panel in minus synth, knobs, etc. and they strip it and repaint. You may also want to send an email to http://frontpanelexpress.com/ and see if they could just make you one. Sorry for the long post, my medicine hasn't kicked in yet.

The latest response from access on this customizing issue....is that they dont have the spare man power to do it.

Fair enough I suppose.....no big deal. It was just an idea...

That's a crying shame. It'd serve as a publicising tool for them, as I bet everyone would be wanting to see it. ;) Maybe they feel if they allowed yours to be customised more people would want theirs doing too, which they might not wish to undertake.

Could be a niche in the market there, are there any design companies that specialise in customizing synths? If cars and bicycles can be customized then why not synths?

This has got me thinking.......after all anythign is ossible in life if u put ur mind to it. Im going to try and find some specialist companies who have experience with doing paint jobs and graphics on things like synths. Ill let u know how i get on!

I always liked the look of that Virus C that had LEDs. Not sure if I'd pay to get it done though. I don't think I'd want it out of my studio for the time it took to get it done either.

I wish someone would make a clear synth though.

I bet you could get it done for 300 bucks or so. Im thinking the expensive part would be the silk screening. You could probably strip the old paint and paint it yourself with an airbrush. I would just do a little research on the chemicals or whatever you need to get the original paint/graphics. This is something Im very interested in. BTW, check my other post, one of my ideas is to make a minimoog style cabinet and put my own keys/ mod wheels etc and get a virus c tabletop and put the rack on a hinge and try to make it look professional real minimoog style but keep the virus panel, knobs etc.

There are already companies that do this. Here's one of 'em:-

http://www.forat.com/service/all%20pictures.htm

Most are, er, grotesque, imho. And most are Akai samplers, but there's a few keyboards in there too.

Korg Triton ^^^ .

Eugh.

Lol, the customised AKAI user pics are actually quite funny. No dissin' da funky-ass beat rappaz 'n der biyatches, blood bro' mutha, innit y'all.

Almost all of those were quite ugly. They do have a nice professional look though(good craftsmanship but bad designs). A couple that had real basic color were nice though. 600 still sounds kinda expensive, the only reason it's so much it becasue of their clients. Do you have any other links to similar companies?

Hehehe, doesn't get more "Liberachi" than this...

Classic.

The chrome MPCs look pretty cool though. While make'n musak, look down to check if ya bling is blinging. :D That was my best attempt at homie talk by the way.

I work at digital print shop, and what we do is print a full color image directly to a vinyl with an adhesive on the back. I'm not a pro at customizing synths or anything, but my cousin is a dj and I printed him up some cool japanamation image and we laid it over the top of his mixer.
We had to take the knods, sliders, and faceplate off to do it.
It came out pretty cool. The slits for the sliders looked a little funny but he didn't care.
I just don't know if I could pull a virus apart like that. 8O
