Hi there Virus people!
I'm looking to get a Virus TI sometime but dont know which version to get. Do people find that the ones without keyboards are less easy/fun to use than the ones with the keyboards or do you find theres nothing in it? I already have a Kstation and a CS6x so I have a good keyboard on that. I just dont want to get the Desktop version then find it hassle not to have a keyboard or whatever.
Cheers ;)

~Welcome to Planet Virus~
I own the RackXL, because of the same reasons as you, I had my own keyboard, and the rack version is cheaper!!!! Same with the desktop version......it is the exact same except without keys!!!
If you are fluent in MIDI there should be no dramas getting the desktop, the only thing is, those Ti keyboards look so damn sexy!!!!
Good luck!!

If I'd be you I'd sell that K-station and get the TI keyboard. When you get a TI your K-station will be useless soundwise and the keyboard on the K-station is totally awful and cheap so I'd ditch it.

Welcome to the forum. :D
I use a desktop and there's no problem using it with-in my setup. The keyboards are very nice with the Virus range, but if you have a set of keys that (most importantly) you are happy with, then really the choice is up to you.

Do you really reckon my kstation would be redundant? I mean, would you get the exact same sounds out of a virus? Thing is with the K is that its so easy to use although those Polars are so damn sexy its unbelievable. How are the Virus keyboards better?

You just cant beat the key action on the Virus KB, KC, TI. I believe the Indigo 1 and 2 had slightly different key action (some say not as nice).
If I were you I'd sell the K-Station because:
1) The Virus TI has onboard 95% studio grade effects
2) The Virus TI key action cannot be beaten. It will serve as a master for anything you subsequently buy in later years...
3) The Virus TI contains wavetable oscilators....not the 24 static digital waveforms you get with the K!
4) The Filters on the Virus are 'better' sounding and more flexible than the K
5) 80 Note poly is enough for true multimode performances
6) HyperSaw.....!!
7) Classic 80's style wavetable sounds!!!!
The Virus is a far more desirable synth to own than the K. Above all else...at least you can impress people by saying you use a Virus TI. The K-station is in the realm of nothingness.....its very 'middle of the road'.
Ive owned both the KS5 and VirusKC. This is my opinion.

What is a good set of keys? I cant say I find the Yamaha ones that great, come to think of it, but I thought all synths were the same.

The keys on the Virus are superb (KB, KC, TI). Lovely semi weighted action, smooth and noiseless! All I can say..is that once youve tried them...you'll never want to go back to crappy 'synth action' keys.
Just try them out somewhere if you can.

Weighted? Cool! Problem is I've never ever even seen a Virus let alone played one and I dont know where I could try one out.

Thanks, have you seen the price of the TI Polar/keyboard ones though - ?1.5k, that has to go down surely. I mean they get the Viruses straight from Access and they sell them for that price

Thats Turnkey for you....a bit expensive. Sadly as is the case with all shops...they mark up the price....ALOT. Turnkey probably get TI's for ?1000 a piece....then they mark it up ?400-500.

Is there nowhere else we can get Viruses? Turnkey is the equivalent of PCWorld, who I hate with a vengeance so I'm never going to buy from them.

Yeah, I might as well get a TI, seeing as they are just going to be better than the C. But I dont want to give those sukkas my hard earned cash. Hows about a ram-raid?

Cool, is that the new version? If you put some chunky tires on it, a big V8, and a black/grey paint scheme and a pointless red spoiler on top you could be as cool as the T. himself. If anyone touched it you could say "Quit banging on my ride, sukka!"
And at the end of the mission I'll stick a fat cigar in my mouth and say 'I love it when a plan comes together'..
Like A-team never would succeed? hehe.
My two favourite tv/movie-character when i was younger was; Mr T and Jaws (from James Bond).
And i always said; when i become older i'll replace all of my teeth as Jaws and get those gold-chains like Mr T.
Hmm, I am still thinking of getting myself some goldteeth. I do need it anyways since i was in accident as a kid and lost 50% of both my front teeth, so it looks kinda like Dracula-teeth now.
Damn that did hurt as hell - and the best part is that school sent me home instead of to an dentist saying "You are a big boy, you can handle it just fine" - Problem was that the nerve-fibre was 'showing' on both teeth so just breathing cold air felt like someone tried to pull those teeth out with a chainsaw. Idiotic school, only thing they taught me was to hate school.
not the brand new release - its the t4 shape (1997 model) - the ones you see the most of.
i have some decent t4 mod pics if youre interested

I used to kinda think that too, but then I realised the school was OK, but the people (teachers) made it suck. Of course, some teachers are cool, and their lessons were always the ones I learnt most from, and normally the things I learnt had nothing to do with the current lesson material, but of more important lessons, learnt from individuals I respected....
Which happened again recently, when my lecturer at school went off on an audio adventure across Asia, and left us without my favorite teacher EVER!!!! It makes such a huge difference when the person teaching you, is someone who is truly passionate about what they teach, and passionate about their job. When a good teacher is at the front of a class, it is like they are a performer, keeping you entertained, and at the same time, teaching you more about life, except you dont really know this until later....
Ramble ramble ramble....I think I am suffering from lack of sleep!
?
getting all profound on us jase? hehe...
go to bed mate

Of course, i know what you mean - i've had my share of fantastic teachers - esp. when i was in high school where i did learn about; music, carpentry and electronics. in the end we had built our own electric-guitar.
On that course we had 3 teachers and two of them were great ->
First our carpenter-teacher which is one of sweden's biggest blues-guitarist, really really good at it was really fun to have as a teacher, he taught me much about playing the guitar and was really a nice fella which the whole class went and saw and drank beer with his band.
Then we had our musicteacher who eventually did ask me if i wanted to be his apprentice in a studio he was going to build (and already had loads of cash, he just wanted to teach and see if there was someone in the course that was passionate for music) - but however i had other plans in life right at that moment acctually so i had to turn it down (which i still regret) since his studio has become really nice, and they are producing alot of music for movies/commercial and so on.
