Modern youth is spoiled by all this hitech stuff with synth modellings and FX's.

I tried out FT2 some time ago just to taste the sweet nostalgia and damn it was cryptic program. It was so clumsy to make anything with it. I still remember the old days when every function was in the backbone and making tracks was a breeze. The only FX's possible were a delay and a clumsy chorus. Of course the maximum of 32 tracks limited the use of these FX tricks.

It's funny that the programs were so crappy that they forced you to be innovative. Restricting yourself is a good thing from time to time.

hehe :)

i've used all the trackers, and i've used all the major sequencers (cubase, logic, sonar, reason etc)..

www.renoise.org - a tracker, but just as good as any of the above mentioned tools. but its a bit harder to learn. and confusing to people who dont know what a tracker is.

My monster-computer (233mhz, 128 ram and a 2 gig harddrive) running windows 95 SE has FT2 installed and i play with ft2 from time to time. Great program - I love the way you do the delay effects in that program - and when i still had all the parts i usually booted my amiga 500 up and did listen to old tunes i did back in Protracker on the amiga.

wow thanks a lot guys!! its very comforting having you all around, because i know i'll have a few hundred questions coming up as soon as the Ti is installed and ready to go :)

First question allready. As I understand, I can use the Virus C patches available for download.. (yes?). What about the other viruses. Are the sound patches compatible? I read a similar post about this on this forum, but dont think it was fully answered.

Anyhow, thanks a lot so far fellas!

Xerxes.....

I really like your tunes......you should post a link in the "Members music" forum, there is some really cool stuff there!!!!

How did you set up the server, where you can host your music? I'd like to do something similar

xerxes_

thanks :) i'll post some tunes when i get the virus goin!
scene.org is a 100mbit server where you can apply for an artist account (as far as i know). i've had my account there since 1996 or so because the ppl who run it are "scene" guys (demoscene).

send them a mail and ask around, they are helpful people.

I remember a group (or was it only one person?) that was in a 'demogroup' called xerxes (or very similliar).

He used FT2 if i remember correctly and i still got some .xm-files somewhere on my computer

thanks again :)

as i previously said, this is NOT my server. i'm just lucky enuff to have an unlimited space account there (only for music ofcourse). goto www.scene.org and check it out. maybe you or any other artist on this forum can get an account there. might cost a little bit (this i dont know).. but definitly worth looking into.

yeah i was already looking into it...I just dont know about the fact that they can use your music whenever they want, just as long as they dont make a profit! I dont want anyone freely distributing my music unless its to promote me...and in their case it would seem to me more about promoting their page...but of course then i have my otherside that says hey atleast some1 is promoting your music!!

they wont use your music for non-profit pr0n productions or anything that would make you look "not so hot".. so if you want to make your music available on the internet for people to download and listen to, i can only see a win/win situation having them host your files on their awesome server.

peace!

oh and 303, i dont think there were anyone from gothenburg in my group. i was in night55, and still in fairlight and hellven. only swedes in any of those groups are from stockholm as far as i know :)
