Virus TI Keyaction

Does the TI 61 key have the same action as the KC?

The reason I ask is because Turnkey describe it as 'light action'....whereas it used to be referred to as 'semi-weighted'

I loved the keyaction on the KC...I hope its not changed!

That's some good news!

I'm selling my kc on ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38071&item=3765891981&rd=1&ssPageName=WDV ) to get a TI Polar and I would have been disappointed to get a cheaper keyboard!

I just hope the new TI will be stable and they won't rush the release!

I wouldn?t count on anything before someone from Access can confirm it :? Conserning the keys i think the TI P?lar should be compared to the Indigo II and the TI Keyboard to the KC. Does the Indigo II have semi-weighted keys?

access would be crazy to change the keys on the 61 TI. the keys on the VKC have the reputation as being the best semi-weighted keys available.

the indigo/polar is a different story - i don't think the key quality is a big deciding factor for people who purchase those. i think they're more seduced by the size and coolness factor.

the indigo/polar is a different story - i don't think the key quality is a big deciding factor for people who purchase those. i think they're more seduced by the size and coolness factor.

In that case the Polar should cost less to buy if the quality suffers comparatively. The old Indigos used to be, what was it, around 300 pounds less than the kB/kC versions? At the moment the Polars seem like a small ripoff. The Polar does have a mainly metal fascia, but the other TI's have walnut/mahogany wooden cheeks with the substantially better key-action, and a larger metal body/chassis surface area.

BTW, I was after a Polar due to its portability factor, but it's a steep ?300 incline from the desktop TI to the Polar (the difference being the colour, the synth-action keys, and the mod wheels), which puts me off. For that price, I think the majority of people would go for the TI 61-note if they have the space to house one....

I think the Polar should cost ?150 or so less than the 61-noter.

i have heard that the indigo has a different key action than the keyboard virus. i assumed this would be the same with the polar and TI keyboard. as for the price of the indigo/polar being the same as their keyboard equivilants - i assumed that because the indigo started out as a limited edition thing the high price justifies a smaller and technically inferior product to the keyboard version. seeing as the indigo/polar seems to have been established as part of the virus family proper i do think they should drop the price slightly. but then again, you pay for looks and the indigo/polar series jsut looks so fucking cool. the keyboard virus looks a bit chunky for my tastes.

Yeah I agree the TI keyboard is quite big and bulky. I had a kc and it took way too much room in my studio. I LOVED the keyboard tho but I'm sure that even if the TI POLAR keyboard isnt as good as the kc's, its still going to be better than most of the competition.


I think I'll go to the store this afternoon and play a bit on a indigo to see if the feel is similar to a kc. If not, then I might change my preorder :)

As far as I know, The Polar is not technically inferiour to the Virus Ti 61 key version. You are paying for portability and power as much as you are for looks.

As far as I know, The Polar is not technically inferiour to the Virus Ti 61 key version. You are paying for portability and power as much as you are for looks.

Maybe not technically, but it is physically inferior. It's lacking 24 notes from the 61-note version, and they aren't semi-weighted. It has a smaller chassis too, requiring less raw materials. ;)

BTW, why shouldn't a 37-note keyboard be used as a master? That's perfectly acceptable for a soft-studio, as most stuff is made in non-realtime so parts can be layered on each pass.
Besides, it's not even like the 61-note Virus can have split-layers with different patches on different key-zones anyway. ;) Yet.

Why not just the desktop version, a nice MIDI-keyboard and a MIDI-interface. Works fine with me (just need a better keyboard; the one i got is crap) cause then i can use the keyboard with different synths instead of having more than one keyboard (witch would take up more space).

strange sense of humor there wk. the qs6 is synth action, the qs8 is weighted.
most people say the qs6 keys are crap, but i forgive it, because it is release velocity capable.

I?m used to my piano and therefore like full-weighted keys and i?d like to have aftertouch too but MIDI-keyboards with these specifications are god danm expensive and weigh a ton :( Actually i was considering the KC but it was 5000 dkr. (about 675?) more expensive than my C :? I could get a "M-Audio Keystation Pro 88" or a "Studiologic Midi-keyboard SL990XP88" for the price difference. If it had full-weighted keys i think i would have gone for a KC.

How is the feel of the Indigo series keys. I know its not semiweighted like the kc/kb but it is more substantial than say a Nord Lead 3 keybd or just about any other VA, right? I have only played a Indigo 2 for a few minutes at Guitar center many moons ago but I think I remember the kybd feeling less cheapo than others. Any thoughts, My next synth purchase will prally be an Indigo2, unless Santa brings me a sack full of hundreds

Just looking for a confirmation - is the TI POLAR and the TI full 61-key model key's identical in terms of action, weighting, aftertouch, material, overall quality etc? (aside from the differing octave range of course). Are they equally solid in build? Would be very interested to find out the answer to this!

Would be disappointed to hear the POLAR's keys were of less quality than the 61 key model.

On the Polar I think it's to easy to get double notes when hitting the keys.

Example: Rom A-64, First part is played normal, second part I hit the keys at the front end.

FWIW i really enjoy my Ti Polar keys over most of my other synths. They are far better quality than my Andromeda keys, Moog LP, Novation, etc. But i bought the Polar for it's gergeous looks over the bigger keyboard version (which i find has an ugly layout), and i use my Triton Extreme 61 as my master anyway (which has a great solid semi action imho).
