Hey I tried searching for the answer but I couldnt find it so here goes.. I'm sequencing in cubase sx 2... and I dont know why but when i record automation it doesnt let me change the data.. it shows the moves of my automation and plays the automation back but i'm not able to edit it.. I've just been tryin to tweak the filter cutoff for starts.. can anyone think of a solution? I used to be able to record any knob tweaks and then edit them with my mouse.. I dont know what happened. Shouldnt a control lane be made by automation of any knob parameter inside the piano roll and available for tweaking? Thanks in advance guys..

So there is no controller lane????

If not, you need to ctrl/right click at the bottom of the screen, and choose the option "Create controller lane"

Then, with your pencil you are able to edit the knob tweaks

tomer you can edit every virus parameter within SX2 if u find what number is assigned to each knob on the virus you can automate that controller in cubase...easy.

ok so check this out; I go to add a control lane.. and I can add one but it's a set list and theres no access to #40 which is filter 1 cutoff which is what i'm trying to tweak. So I guess now the question is .. there anyway to create a controller lane from scratch ?
I have access to alot with the list in cubase but I cant seem to find away to create one. I've got access to #41 which is Filter 2 cutoff but not filter 1.. It must have gotten deleted or something..

In SX2, Filter 1 (controller 40) is named "Balance LSB" Filter 2 is Controller 41, and named that.

Create a controller lane. Bring down the list of controllers and click setup.

Find in the right hand menu, "Balance LSB" and "Controller 41". Click the highlighted button to bring them in to the active controller list.

Now, in the sequencer select the controller from the list that you wish to automate.

Hope this helps!

I usually just record a knob twist or button push and then locate the parameter that has been changed. It?s marked with an "*" (for example: Balance LSB *)...

Edit: If the controller lane isn?t already there it will appear automaticly after recording the parameter change so you won?t have to pull out the manual and to see what controller to add.

i thought its possible to automate external synth like you do with plugins on the automation timeline in the main seqeuncer window :( i guess it is only possible on sx3

Does it make any difference how you do it? It works fine with me the other way

I agree, and I prefer the controller lane as it is more accurate and easier to use.
