I was thinking, being the virus such a powerful synth with multi capabilities, why doesnt it have more lfos or envelopes?

I know sometimes they are not necessary, but a free 3rd env routable to any parametr would be cool. Also why dont they use envelopes with more stages like in some korgs? Like those that have Delay Attack Decay 2nd Attack, etc...

And the same with lfos. I would like to have more lfos. I sometimes find myself wondering if they are that expensive. I mean 1 or 2 more lfos would be great and would add more game to the virus.

These are not necessary, but would improve the virus, I think. What do you say?

well i would say you would have to give up seperate fx for each channel for thos lfos and 3rd envelope you wanted...

That's one reason I felt a massive "step back" from the programming of Korg's MOSS synthesis (from 1995) to the Virus' architecture.

The MOSS has one dedicated Amp EG, and then four other fully-featured, extensive EGs with which you can assign to whatever you like.

Again, it also has four fully-featured and extensive LFOs to assign to whatever you like.

All EGs and LFOs have loads of additional modulation sources/destination, just too many to mention. You can chain LFOs and EGs together, letting them modulate and play off against each other, while being controlled further via the joystick, XY ribbon-controller, velocity, aftertouch,... you name it, and then assign them to almost anything you want.
Imagine the routing and modulation capabilities of Z3ta+, and that's about half the possibilities of MOSS.

The Virus is crippled in comparison. A lot of the architecture of the Virus seems just plain backward and restrictive ('fixed') to me. Very obtuse.

i think it was a compromise for the sake of polyphony.
the more complex a voice is, the less of them that can play.
i do wish you could at least loop the envelopes, tho.
