No, not my personality..

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to set up my outboard gear so it's all balanced?

gear is:

Spirit Folio 8 channel desk
RME Multiface
JoeMeek VC3
Alesis Microverb 2
Yamaha FX900

I wanna use it for recording guitar and vocals.

Guitar -
JoeMeek out1 - RME + hard disk
JoeMeek out2 - FX900 - Spirit with Alesis aux. - monitors

(they're parallel mono outs)

I'll have six outs from the RME going into 6 ins on the desk.

All the above gear is built for balanced use and jack plugs. Apart from one XLR mic in on the JoeMeek.

Any links you may have to idiot's guide and building new cables most welcome. Thanks

Matt

Whats the score with balanced cabling? Better over long distances? No need for shielding?

It is time accurate over long distances and isn't susceptable to interference and noise from outside sources. Balanced usually gives you another 1-3 dB of gain as well. 8)

Merlot mate, not got an AC30! Got a very old Laney Linebacker 30. If you're after that original English cheap sound, make us an offer. Great spring reverb..

I've just got an old 2x12 crate amp. I am mostly using modelling now. I am a huge fan of guitar rig. Have you given the demo a whirl?
