My Virus is Crazy!!!!!!!!!
I tryed to update my virus classic to the 6.5 OS version (there is only virus C series OS updates in access website so assume that it works for both virus classic and virus c).........but it doenst UPDATES nothing!!! my OS version still is the 4.9 that came on it since i bought it (1 month ago)

and besides that my multi-banks are all weird!!! like: the channel 1 of all multi is playing all sounds from the multi at the same time.......and after the channel 3 all multis dont play any sound at all!!!!!!!!

I've already tryed updating the OS (i dont know why i cant do this shit), I've already installed the 1024 patches......i've already installed the ABM.mid to reset the multi (it actually resets the multi but the problem of not playing the channels beyond 3 is still there)

I CAN'T STAND ANYMORE THIS SYNTH!!!!.......i feel that i spent $1000 for nothing......just trouble

And i've already tryed to reset it by pressing the LFO 1 shape button while turning it on.......but all the problems are sill there.....

How can i REALLY erase all stuff on it?? Anyone show me some way to solve this problem PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: i use a cubase SX 2, firewire 410 and Win XP

Have you checked whether Part Enable is set to ON for the Parts above 3?

OS 4.90 is the latest OS for a Clasic since it?s actually a Virus B in a new wrapping :? Run the OS 4.90 update for Virus B and if you still have trouble with your pathes you should try the 1024 patch update again. The two updates should together reset everything...

I don't think the Virus B OS will load either - you need the specific Classic OS.

Is there any differense between a Virus Classic and a Virus B except the colour :?: It would make sense that it?s the same OS as the B since it?s the same version number as the latest OS for B

There is no update - your Virus Classic has the latest OS if it is 4.9

Now, more importantly - have you checked Part Enable for the different Parts yet?

It is essentially the same OS, it's just that the Classic boots up with 'Virus Classic' in the display :D

Also, the Virus B had two versions - 'T' and 'S'. There was no difference in functionality, it was just down to a revision of the Motorola DSP, but small differences had to be coded for the OS to work on the revised version.

Classic owners needn't worry about this - there is only one version for them, but for these small reasons, the OS is specific to that model.

:( I CAN SEE NOW THAT EVERYTIME I TRY TO DUMP ANY SOUND INTO MY CUBASE PROJECT IT ACTUALLY DOESN'T DUMP IT IN THE RIGHT WAY......EVERYTIME THE SOUND IS DUMPED DIFFERENTLY OR EVEN IT IS NOT DUMPED AT ALL (I'VE TRYED THE SINGLE BUFFER DUMP AND THE ARRANGMENT DUMP AND BOTH ARE SCREWING UP MY SOUNDS) :(

I DONT KNOW IF IT MY PROBLEM, OR IF IT IS THE CUBASE PROBLEM, OR THE VIRUS PROBLEM.......OR EVEN MY M-AUDIO INTERFACE PROBLEM

ANYONE WITH THIS EXPERIENCE??? ANY HELP?????

sounds like cubase is filtering sysex or midi data.

What tempo are you running the sequence? Try it really slow, to see if that helps.

I?ve had trouble dumping sysex data from Cubase but i solved it by saving a midi-file with a slow tempo and then i played it back with windows media player with the midi port that the virus is on selected as default playback device. A little anoying way to do it but it works

i've already took out sysex filtering on "preferences" on cubase

Synth: I believe 100 is way too fast. Try 40 or 60!

I used to use 100bpm in Cubase VST 5 with no probs. I was using a Delta 10/10 at the time.

how?? i didnt understand very much :? explain to me plz

1. Import the file you want to upload to your virus in your sequenser
2. Lower the tempo to about 40 to 60 bmp
3. Export to a MIDI-file
4. Go to "control panel" in windows
5. Doubleclick "sounds and multimedia"
6. Choose "audio"
7. In "MIDI music playback" choose the MIDI port your Virus is connected to
8. Make sure that LoPage and HiPage in the Virus is both set to SysEx
9. Play the MIDI-file you saved
Voila!!!

Well you could but you may want to send controller and/or polypressure info from the virus to your sequenser and then you have to change it. Actually come to think of it i think that the virus receives both sysex and controller/polypressure when set to controller/polypressure so you could just leave them as controller and polypresure. I only change mine to sysex when i want to upload pathes as a sysex dump (for backup or sharing)...
