Featuring the all new Virus TI line, Access Music will exhibit at Remix Hotel New York from 03 June to 06 June 2005.

Anyone planning to attend?
From here it's a 6 hours ride, I think it might be worth it to see the synth in action!

damn it, every time I come on this forum, I see that signature photo above and think...

...I reaaallly need a girlfriend...

Which is no good... Music needs to be my focus at the moment, not beautiful, voluptuous women dancing around in bikini's.

How many others are finding their focus intercepted?

Ya daft tit, I meant it as in "if i keep focus and carry on making music now i'll hit stardom, then i can sit back and relax and let the good times roll".... ;) Double irony.

We could do with a few more women here, though. Or more appropriately, better weather. All the decent gals seem to hibernate for half the year in this country. However, spring is back!!!.........

I hear you Timo.

I've had a whopper dry spell. It's not so much when the money starts rolling, but more: when I have music I can happily play out to people, I can return to culture, and actually socialise, leading to knickers hitting the floor again.

Yeah.... Imagine a dominant, naked, finger licking bitchy style brunette, talking about oscilators, bit depth, quantization noise and vintage compression...

Yeahhh baby... I want you... ahhhhhh... insert your jack into my input ... cmon... do it..... stretch my.... waveform.... yessss... I want to swallow all your feedback.... don't stop... ahhhhhh...

That would be perfect... I would marry her immediately!

prepare yourself for the usual "we are in the final stages of beta testing" reponse Timo... because I really dont think Access will be prepared to give us anything but an indirect, non-informative reply.

Obviously there is no way of telling just how many bugs/issues there are with the new OS and USB implementation - there really has to be a deadline at which Access ships - bugs or not... Im sure that Access would have this date in mind, but there is no way we will ever know about it until 'now shipping' appears on their website.

If the lockdown on info continues until the end of June I think we will start to see a greater percentage of preorder customers pulling out - well over six months wait is too much to ask, even from long-time loyal customers.

I've heard some horror stories and starting to get really fed up with waiting...Are we still looking months?

DIGITAL SCREAMS
01.06.2005, 05:56 AM
Well, what are we expected to think when the company has made no real official statement...the website not updated for months.....etc etc. Unfortunately this is exactly what happened to Waldorf for the 9 months leading upto its insolvency. Im not suggesting or hoping this is going to happen to Access.....but at the end of the day...fuck withthe customer base....you get fucked yourself.

I hope this gets sorted quickly......with all this secracy and delay....you'd have to be a mighty brave customer to invest ?1500 in a synth which sooo obviously had development problems. Hence the reason I opted for the safe tried and tested route of decent outboard, decent drum machine and and NL2x....

I definitely would have bought the Ti back in december/Jan....but after awhile....the novelty wears off a bit...and one does start to look more closely at 'what the synth still can't do' as opposed to 'what it can do'. Its a sad story...but im not the one spins sensational marketing slogans etc etc....its great if you can back it up with an available product to capitalise on peoples compulsiveness.....but when the product is not available its a case of.....'I hear what your saying....im just not feeling it'

Just got back from SAE. :D

So guys, the Virus TI really exist and it absolutely rocks. I had the chance to play the TI kb and polar. Really nice. I know it's a really long time but it is really worth the wait. Hyper saw+square osc is the fattest osc I ever heard. Nice sounding at upper and lower registers. Internal sync is phat. The wavetables are nice indeed(drawbar, throaty, cluster, chords, landing). BC has some nice patches programmed. I really like that choirbell patch. I spent like 3 hrs at access booth with Marc :) . He was very helpful, went over everything. TI is working with logic and cubase, they had both of them opened at the booth. I'm pretty sure it will be working with DP, protools and others. The illuminated logo at the back is really nice, too bad they could'nt put one of them on the tabletops. Public soundbanks includes manuel schleis, tiesto's soundset , Ben Crosland's patches are very nice and many other banks. Importable wavetable are not available with the current OS. The editor is not standalone and it is very easy and fast to use. Making your own arp will be mad easy with the editor. Dynamic patch allocation is pretty good, I was playing with some preset that has high release and heavy reverb on it, then I change to a different patch it went on forever. About the release, he could'nt give any specific date, but it will happen pretty soon.

The spectralis synth is another kickass synth.

BTW, BC where were you? :)

In contrast to previous Virus models, the TI doesn't change the sound when you change patches until a new key is pressed, and even then, the release phase and reverb/delay tail of the previous sound still fades out underneath the new sound.

hey ben,

i am still pretty much a newbie, so sorry for this dumb question.

i am using logic audio 5.5 on PC . I GUESS THE TI will also work smoothly with that and not just LOGIC 7 AND PRO on MAC.

is that so?

i dont want to change as i beleive the interface of 5.5 is perfect to look at and really helps not to distract one from music making.
plus i want to spen money on the TI and not another computer.

Merlyn, Welcome to the forum :)

I think you need the host seq to open the editor. BTW guys, Polar is the sexiest looking synth out there. About the virus control, You have like 25 to 30 banks to program the CC to control the softsynths. I was going to buy the doepfer's drehbank or pocket dial, but you are limited with 4 banks of presets with doepfers or I could be wrong. Hyper Subs can go pretty low end with the analogue 4pole. We were playing with some sub patch, both of the woofers and marc's powerbook were shaking  You need like a whole day to go through the patches, lot of them. Lot of the banks are not complete either, lot of init patches. Illuminating logo will be handy for live use with other performers to keep up with the tempo. All of you polar and Kb guys, lucky bast. With Hyper saw+sq and Wavetables -You have a whole new Virus.
