Guys,

Anyone own one of these? I heard a few demos read some reviews, they sound ok. Does it compliment a virus or does one make the other redundent (in your setup).

Thanks
Aster

MS2000 should be shit expensive...unless i'm confusing it with MS-20 :?

I had a microKORG which is an ms2000. It's great - It's kinda like a "poormans Nordlead".

I am very tired and got a hangover so i can't really give you a review now.

However why go with the MS2000B/BR? Buy a regular MS2000 for less than half price from a "B"-version and you get exactly the same machine! It's just another color on the MS2000B from the original.

The 2000B was just korg's idea to remanufacture the exact same thing and ask more money for it.
i think you can find an ms2000 rack for about 200 euro on ebay.

Harmony Central (http://www.harmony-central.com) is a great source of reviews for kit, especially synths, the MS2000B can be found here (http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Korg/MS_2000_B-1.html)

They also have reviews for the MS2000 and the MS2000R although I can't see what the difference is going to be!

I like them a fair bit actually. Probably would buy one if I was in the market for another VA (which I'm not). I say if you see one cheap enough, splash out.

I picked up a MS2000BR about 2 months ago, got it for $300 so I could'nt turn it down. They're a decent va for the money. To be honest I preferred the vocoder on the MS compared to my KC. But that was about it, it didnt have the warmth and the depth that I get out of the KC. I ended up selling it, I kinda wish i hung onto it, just to have another toy to dick around with but I ended up needing the money so out it went. If you're on a budget or are looking at a good deal than I'd say grab it, they're fun.

If it had the same polyphony as my virus i`d ditch the virus without hesitation. Had one and loved it :-)

I had an MS2000 3 years ago and I liked it. It has only 4 voices of polyphony and the distortion is only on/off but it can do some great sounds. Some people say it sounds like digital shit but in my opinion it can do some very analog sounding tones too. Of course the filter sounds digital but it is a nice synth. I have considered an MS2000 rack but it needs so much rack space. Maybe I'll go and buy a nord rack2 first. And yes, the new black ms2000 series is the same inside than the older ms2000. Only the preset sounds are different which can be downloaded from the net.
