I tend to use FM7 at times. Don't own a real DX7(unfortunatly, its a great synth)

Whats FM7 like to use when programming sounds from scratch? Im thinking of grabbing a copy, making my sounds on it....and then transfer it over to the DX to play on

FM7 is probably easier than a real DX to program (never exerienced programming a real one though).
Best thing about FM7 is the random button! :D
Can you actually transfer patch-data from a FM7 to a DX/TX?
Anyway...
I keep seeing TX7s (rack DX7) here for sale. Some are selling for as cheap as $50aus. I am thinking I should pick one up just to get a side by side comparison of FM7.

I'm pretty sure you can since it can import original DX7 sysex patches, then why should it not be able to reverse that(save sysex)?

I was also thinking of using FM7 as a patch librarian to quickly audition the 1000's of DX patches on the net. Its alot quicker than loading 32 up into internal memory. Im basically gonna take all of the very best patches and make my own libarary.
I absolutely love the sound of FM. Ive come across about 10-12 presets which are very famous......
Funny thing about the DX7....one minute it can sound really professional and unique.....the next minute it sounds as bad as a ?10 carboot keyboard
Ill do a little mp3 of some of my favourite sounds soon.....

Id just like to comment on the 'FULLTINES' patch.....
Its the all time (overused) Rhodes piano patch. Well, every so often a synth produces a 'perfect' sound......when you listen to FULLTINES on a DX (not some shitty workstation or sample) it really does sound perfect. No wonder it was so heavily used. I've been playing around with that patch alone for hours......very inspiring. Lovely
OK, I'll shut up now

Do any of you guys like the synth sounds used on the films 'Flight of the Navigator, Killer Klown from Outer Space and Big Trouble and Little China?'
Well I was gobsmacked to find some of these signature sounds as presets on my DX. I'm in 80's heaven guys.....SCREAMS made the right choice!
