Here is a juicy quote from the online retailer selling me my TI

"Hi xxxxx,
These should be shipping October 3rd. The TI's are in country now, but
they're waiting for the software updates before shipping them."

Like it gets me thinking all sorts of things like, how long have they been here? and the like. Not long now

They're waiting for a software update before shipping them? Ok, so Access have shipped them worldwide...thats good news....but does this mean theres going to be another hold up now until this software update is made available?

There is a certain element of ambiguity creeping in. I hope someone can clarify this.

You still trust crap from distributors after months of bullshit and speculation from them?...which is all this is now, they will say anything to make a sale.

This whole software update seems really odd, don't you think? I mean after all this delay, why in the world would Access announce the TI for Oct 3rd only to delay it again? it just doesn't make sense.

That's the same rumour that I've heard too. guys like GSF and all have most of the hardware, they only have to update the drivers and softwares.

It isn't Oct 3rd yet.

yeah, that is what I was trying to say - this rumor doesn't make sense. After all this delay, it just wouldn't make sense for Access to announce a date and then not ship on that date.

The distributors are probably just trying to keep people appeased. It's likely have instructions from Access not to ship before the 3rd, and it's probably also true that Access is trying to sort out software issues as well (I would imagine they're constantly doing this). Whether or not that would hold up the Ti's release, well, let's wait until Monday and find out.

My feeling is that the hardware could have been sitting in Distributors warehouses (eg USA) for any time between Nov 2004 till now. The BIG WAIT has been over the software. So wheather the hardware got here yesterday, last week or six months ago is beside the point.

On another note: If you listen to the latest Podcast from audiomidi.com they mention they are only a mile from the actual US warehouse for Access.

i dont belive it set in the warhouses simply for the reasons that the boxes are factory sealed and the distributers cant just open them to do software updates.

Why not? As my brother that used to work as a warehouseman and his job was acctually to open boxes of wine (3 litre bags) and put them in a new swedish box instead.

I'm having a hard time believing any of this :?
I firmly believe that the TI's will ship on the 3rd.

It's funny because I still don't totally realize that in less than 2 weeks I might have received my TI...It just sounds so surreal. I wasn't expecting the TI anytime soon so I'm very, very very very happy :)

I don't believe that Access would let the music stores to do the software update. It's just too risky. Anything could go wrong. Access do it themselves and then ship the synths. None of this talk makes any sense.

I talked to nova musik and I'm a good long time customer of theirs. They said that the TI desktops will be coming in on the 3rd because they are the easiest to make. NM is getting just one of each of the Polar and Keyboard and they are one of the top 5 distribs for Access. They told me call every monday for an updated eta, but all should be filled the end of October most likely. So, that means those of us who order keys and polars may have to wait a bit longer because Access told NM that they will be shipping a ton of desktops, but don't even ask about the polars and keyboards right now. But they do expect to get more later in October. Even their web-sites says that desktops will be shipping NEXT week with free overnight shipping. The other two don't say that.

This topic wasn't about the Retailers having the hardware units but an offical Access warehouse/distributor having them in the country.

"Expect Audiomidi.com to be the first in the country to have them (Access TI synths) scince we are only a few miles from their distributor."
Audiomidi.com Podcast week of 19th Sept 05

This clearly points out the difference between 'distributor' and 'Retailer'.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Maybe I read the topic too fast. However, I wouldn't let even a distributor to update my synth's operating system (if it was my synth which they were selling). Too risky again IMO. Of course it depends on how qualified the ditributor is but sometimes they don't know much about the product they're distributing.

F5D: Maybe the OS is fine, it might just be the VirusControl plugin that is available on a cd.

This sounds more realistic.

I'm getting my polar from nova too, and they seemed fairly certain that the first shipment would cover all of the original pre orders from november. But that was last week when I talked to them so maybe things have changed.

For some reason I just imagined a giant warehouse of polars/keyboards ready to go at any notice, with just a software update to bring them up to speed. But I've been waiting since last november so whats another couple of weeks, right?

I just noticed that my credit card was finally charged by Nova so I gave them a call. He says that he expects them in Monday or Tuesday and that they are going to ship them out right away as "they are getting a ton of them". I'm keeping my fingers crossed here and hoping to see it by the 5th!!
