Hi,

Does anyone remember this desk?

I am trying to find out the original cost of the unit?

Did anyone here purchase one or remember bakc to when they were in production?

If so could you let me know the original cost and the years they were in production?

I have contacted Soundcraft (or HarmanPro) but as of yet have no answer.

Cheers,

If your looking for a desk
Amek-Neve are geting rid of all their analog desks for lower prices dou to the shut down of the company.
you should look into the BB100 thos come in 10 to 32 Inputs version so it might be affordable for the home user aswell.
awesome preamps thats for sure.

DS,

You've got a point there - I suppose if I can't find out how much it cost back in 1984 - there is no way the insurance company will either!

I like your price although I prefer it in ?!

Not far off , nice one.

Mine is the 24 channel not the 32 channel, but it gives me a good guideline!

Cool, now what can I get for ?3500?

They are shutting down???? Last I heard SAE (Tom Misner) was buying the company.

Has this changed???

I belive so,it was sold to the herman corporation (Who own Soundcraft & the Urei brand among other things).
If you check out soundcraft's website you will see that they already started manufacturing some of Ameks consoles in their factories under the soundcraft brand,or at least incorporeting the great Amek\Neve sound in their new analog consoles.

Amek are going into a new direction, digital consoles...
its a shame accualy, beucase i dont have the money to buy such amazing gear and by the time i will they will become vintage and very expensive.

btw....excuse my ignorance but whats the difference between an analog mackie mixer (1604) and one of these analog console mixer thingies. Both still analog right?

VERY DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ie what is the difference between a Jupiter 8 and some Casio shit???????

I cant get into the electronics of it, cos I would be out of my depth, but basically the Neve/SSL consoles are using high quality transformers etc, and the Mackie types are using IC's and cheapo chips etc...cost saving devices that sound awful! Well, maybe not awful, they are "clean", but have no life or "colour" or "personality"

Ok I see......probably like 'whats the difference between a tube amp and a transistor one'

Can you name me a few makes and models of decent analog consoles that wont break the bank? Cheers bud

A Soundcraft Series 200B.

Oh my my, I've got one dow in my cellar - might need a few repairs though!

Allen & Heath are worth checking out. I'm sure Jase will have some better suggestions though...

DS,
If you just wish to multitrack your synths within your Daw,you should get a good A\D convertor.
there are plenty good convertors under 1000$.

I think its the pre-amps that are most important.....but you are correct, good converters make a huge difference, but they are damn expensive!

Oh yeah, and some sweet EQ too....

This is why I bought the Studer. Great pre's, nice musical EQ.

TL Audio do some Tube consoles...

In the budget range, I dont think there are any that are more special than the rest, be it Soundcraft, Mackie, etc....

are the preamps being used when runing a keyboard or drum-machine for example thru the inputs?
I always thought they dont make a different because the signal flow is input-eq-insert-fader-directout\group-master out.
only when connecting a mic the preamp is in use.

& yeah i bet that TLaudio M4 Tube console is sweet.

When you talk of the pre-amps.....are these for mic inputs or are these gain knobs for other instruments. Excuse my ignorance plz....

i was refering to the mic inputs.

But of course I use a DI when recording my synths, which converts the hi-impedance unbalanced signal to balanced lo-impedance, then run through my Studer Mic pre's....
