How can I use the TI POLAR keyboard when it sequencer mode?
I'm using Cubase SX3.1.1 and everytime I boot it up, the local mode is turned off automatically(I understand why this happens, but this prevents me from playing the keyboard while writing a tune).

Anyone would know?

I don't understand why it prevents you from playing the keys tbh?

Is it the latency that causes the problem?

If so, simply turn the 'live' part's Main Out (Common Page) to Out 1 L+R. If you don't use the analog outs, try monitoring it with phones.

Even when I have the patch selected, when I bang the keyboard nothing comes out!
But when I playback some midi data, all is good.

Sounds like you're missing a setting in Cubase..

Okay cool I will look into that :)

I don't recall having issues doing that with my other synths but who knows :)

Weird,

When you bang the keyboard does the level in the MIDI track on Cubase jump to say that MIDI data is being received?

Smag: Yep!

Here is a more detailed version of my problem that I posted on the Virus Mailing List yesterday:

This is not a latency issue, nothing comes out of the keyboard in Cubase(outside of Cubase everything is fine). I might reset my Cubase preferences to see if this works but I'd like to know if other people had similar issues.

The issue is specific to the TI, I don't have this problem when using my other hardware synths in midi.

Thanks,

I'm sure it is something really simple to fix...and it drives me nuts!

Press config button on the polar, find the local control screen, and switch local control back on.

It drives me nuts as well - emailed support to asked that there be a permanent config option in virus control for stuff like this (and default audio routing etc).

Yeah that's what I do at the moment but it's rather really annoying!

There must be a way...otherwise what's the point of having a keyboard?

Do you have Virus TI Synth enabled as a Midi Input and Output?

MADSTATION

Actually yes I do.
However, when using VC I just use VIRUS TI as the input/output.
Should this be any different?

If I remember correct I Have Virus TI midi, Virus TI synth and VIRUS TI.

On any MIDI track I have it set as:

in: All Midi Inputs
out: Virus TI

In case it helps:

Preferences>MIDI

Device Active

Virus TI MIDI Yes
Virus TI Synth Yes

Default MIDI Ports

Not Connected

I'm 99.9% convinced that is the exact same config that I have home but I will have to check tonight when I get back from work.

Thanks

OK - Preferences>MIDI

Is MIDI Thru Active checked?

MADSTATION

It wasn't!
Checking Midi Thru fixed all my issues...
Once again, many thanks to you Ben. You rock!
