View Full Version : Using Virus KC as a MIDI Controller...

Hey all,

I am really drooling over the Motif ES Rack and finally have enough coins to buy one. I haven't ruled out an ES6 however as it would be nice to have the full workstation. I must decide if I want to control the Motif ES Rack from my Virus or save a few extra coins and get a used ES6.

My only hardware board is my Virus KC, which I love the action of and am quite happy with its keys, etc. I have no MIDI controller ala M-Audio, CME, etc...

Has anyone here used their Virus KB, KC, Indigo, etc. as their primary controller for controlling rack synths?

Will I essentially play the keys of the KC but have to do all the button pushing/tweaking on the Motif ES Rack, or can I change patches on the Motif ES Rack from the KC?

I have never owned a rack synth so am a bit confused.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Regards,

-Alex

Yes you can use your KC to control the hardware. All of the knob tweaking will have to be done on the rack unless you have some dedicated software to do it for you. Google for motif editor software. There has to be one by now.
Or midipipe or something similar may be able to do the trick as far as controlling the rack from the KC.
