is anyone using a mac (dual g5 here) with a pci card-- adding USB ports? would this be the same as connecting it to a native USB port?--(as opposed to a hub?)

I don't know about USB....But if your doing this(PCI) With Firewire you need a Card with Texas instruments Chips on it....
I used to Have a M-Audio firewire 410 and it would only run on my Laptop with a PCMCIA Firewire card with Texas Instrument CHIPS on it...
I've also read the same since on the Sound on sound Forum

we have good results with a belkin PCI card and a G5. adding USB ports is a good idea.
