V-Accordions?????

I'd allmost beleive it was April 1st :)

SH-201 looks interesting, but from the description, it sounds like its similar to just the VA part of a V-Synth. Funky looking panel on it :)

VP-550 - V-Synth with a VC2 plugged in :)

Sadly no V-Synth V3 OS Update :(

That VP-550 looks like a VC2 card with a keybaord attatched. You got my hopes up then though Khazul. Thought it may be a cheap V-synthy thing.

I knew a little about that SH201 before, but it's nice to see it. I do wonder what it sounds like though. Specially the saturation control.

How's that MC808 though. Bloody motorized faders! Still just the 909 in a new package by the looks, but they do say it's cheaper.

That JunoG is a wierd one! Looks so much like the 106 it's not funny. It's a Fantom in 80s clothing by the looks. Could be a good cheap alternative to the fantom. Have to wait for details on this one though.

All up, nothing that really grabs my attention. I was hoping for a new V-synth OS. Or at the least a new Vcard.

Thanks for the heads up though Merl.

Believe it or not the 808 catches my eye. I have been eyeing a 909 for awhile, but did not want to shell out the cost for it. If the 808 lives up to the hype, I may be looking at purchasing one.
I find I get more work out of "grooveboxes". They seem to fit my workflow better.
Get ready for the vids tomorrow!

Yep, I'm looking forward to some vids in the next few days. I even listed myself on the Sonic State mailing list!

Damn gear lust!!!

i belive the V-acording is Juho's Dream come true :D

funny, with the Juno G they finally copied the Juno60\106 design.

Well.. nothing really that exciting but then again it may just be the simple fact that I haven't had any inspiration for music the latest months and therefor really dont wanna spend cash on hardware which I probably never will use.

The Juno-G looks nice but I hate that they use the same looks as 106 because this synth is not an analog or even virtual analog synth. Maybe this is what they originally tried to do with the Juno-106. I would understand the same look if they even tried to make it a virtual analog emulation of the original.

Then the SH201, I can't believe why they design these things to look like children's toys?! What were they thinking of? I have to think very hard if I want to see anything positive in it.

Roland announces the most friendly and fun analog-modeling instrument on the market
Why do they call this synth "fun"? Once again it makes me think that this synth is a toy and they are targeting this synth to even younger people. This somehow reminds me of Yamaha DJX. 8O

All right, enough ranting. :D
Sure this SH201 is interesting and if I take some time to look at it's picture it looks better all the time. I will definitely try one in a store when they arrive.

However, I don't know if the SH201 would bring me anything new because I already have a JP8080 which I think is more "pro" already altough it's very old.

maybe in the new SH201 they used the jp VA synth engine.

Not to mention you have a little one on the way! Save that $$ man, you are going to need it.

It also looks like the same layout as the 8000, minus a few sliders. :x

Yeah, and possibly the filter is not the same than JP's so it may be that it doesn't even sound like JP. At least the synth looks cheaper than JP.

They also rehashed thier triton lineup for the 5th time in a row. Interested to hear how the radius sounds though.

I do find it hard to get even slightly enthusiastic about the SH-201.

F5D - thats was my thought - very "kiddi-ish", or worse - a teaching aid.

Its apparently also got the integration features that the TI has - I wonder if it comes with the same issues as well? :)

While I have never heard this thing, my basis for comparison is my v-synth with all its useful features switch off and just using the osc in VA mode with really minimal functionality. The saving grace is osc sync and supersaw - just :)

I could be wrong, but I do expect this is basically a *very* cut down version of the V-Synths VA - their other new board seems to be a V-Synth hatchet job as well.

I really have to wonder if this is a viable synth once you get past its looks, integration and play on the the "SH-101" name which Roland are really making a habit of these days (juno line for eg).

Dual osc, not even a sub osc or noise source, very basic mods etc and very limited fx (ie all the things that make the V-Synth viable as a VA synth before you consider its sample manglinfg capabilities). (Unless theres alot of params hidden in it plugin.)

Though it looks very plastic, cheap, toylike i still like the idea with no menus. It?s all hands on. If it sounds good it might turn out to be a good learning synth

omg, it's really a cheap copy of a jp80x0, but when I look at mine the sh201 seems to lack of some functions and waveforms

nut it has a reverb, a feature the jp doesn't have...

Which functions do you mean? It seems to have the supersaw and feedback OSCs.

The 201 is a very basic looking synth, but I agree with Onkel, at least everything is easy to get at. The NordLeads have the same approach. We just have to wait to hear how it sounds now.

I think (if the price is cheap enough) the 201 could be the synth to kill those stupidly high used prices of the 8080. Finaly....

probably I should have waited a few months, I got mine for 660 USD or 375 GBP, but the delivery was included at least...

Just watched the video for the 808 over at SonicState. It retails for just over a grand! Pretty cheap considering the extra memory and motorized faders.

I wonder what the other gear will sell for!?
