It seems that the board software should be reinstalled/updated, 2.0.0(2001) is quite an old version, so the propability of there being some holes and exploits is quite large. Sunesha should also change his/her password propably.

I do hope that those smilies in that "HACKED" post means that the cracker won't delete all the posts in this forum

Maybe hes turkish and proud? ;)

When they did the Alesis forums, they left a huge turkish flag image on there.

Of course maybe he hates turkey and is hoping someone will nuke the place by way of revenge :)

"Nuke the site from orbit - only way to be sure..." :)

He/they have been damn busy!!!

Check this out...
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/0,39020330,39185308,00.htm

Here's a quote from the above link.
"The organisation's Web site, which has the logo "the global voice of the information security profession", was hacked after its server was upgraded.

"In mid-December we switched to a different server and upgraded the software," said Richard Starnes, president of the ISSA UK. "In the patching process, some of the patches were missed. The Web site was subsequently hacked. We took the Web site down, removed the vulnerability, audited the Web site and reported it to the proper authorities."

The ISSA UK Web site, which is sponsored by security companies Sophos, (ISC)2 and Websense, was hacked on January 7th, Starnes confirmed.

According to a report on a hacking Web site, a hacker dubbed iskorpitx penetrated and defaced the ISSA Web site on January 7th at 19:39. The mirror image of the defacement hack showed large pictures of the Turkish flag and a message saying "HACKED By iSKORPiTX (Turkish Hacker)". The browser is then diverted to another Web site, which displays a large photo of dolphins. "

EDIT: that link doesn't look like it'll work without a copy and paste. I quoted the best bits anyways for anyone that's wondering.

This does actually raise a good question, what happens if this site gets taken out of commission?

Well given these hackers seem to be targeting security related forums/websites....they prob thought this was a site dedicated to spreading new virus' across the world. They probably wanted to say 'hey fuckers....we're better programmers than you'....or words to those effect...

I just hope they dont close it down....because that would be silly. They've made their point...

Hi!

For securing the forum, it should help to change the dynamic includes to static ones:
(example)
old: include $site;
new: if($site = "home") include "home";

Is anyone actually in contact with Sunesha?

It is not hard to back up these forums - they are simple mySQL databases..

Has Juho got such admin rights?

Good point.

Those who aren't necessarily fluent in English as a language could perhaps easily misunderstand the grammar in "General discussion about Access Virus" to be something like "General discussion about Accessing Viruses" or somesuch.

WE'RE A MUSIC SYNTHESISER COMMUNITY, NOT A COMPUTER VIRUS FORUM! :)

do either you or Juho have contact details for Sunesha? Also, can you with admin access do anything like a backup of the site or at least the database behind it?

Might be a good idea right about now :)

One of the admins here need to update phpBB to 2.0.19.

I dont know what version is running on the board but it wont be 2.0.0 since upgrading doesnt change this, only when a fresh install is done.

This forum auto-adds the " that puny forum that's not nearly as glorious as this one - what was it... Ah!" whenever you quote thier URL...

What the deuce.. Has Juho been changing stuff.. I'll see what i could do for damage with the sunesha-account

EDIT: Alright, I've got myself a backupcopy of the .sql-file now (just in case of..) and I'll see what I could do with an update or something like that.. But i wanna speak with Juho first

And yes, and you can't mention www.virusti.com either - Juho has been mean

I guess Rami creating a general virus section didnt sit well over here.

You could create a TI section to rub it in - LOL :)

BTW - what did happen to the idea of merging the two?

Well hopefully the Turkish hacker doesn't fuck around too much. We aren't a bad lot if he/they took the time to read the board a little. We definitely have nothing to do with the computer-underworld either.

What will happen if the Admin passwords are changed and Juho or Sunesha can't log in? I don't really know about this sort of stuff at all. Will that mean they can't back up the data base?

then they would have created another account and informed us about that, so calm down, have a cup of coffe and enjoy being hacked :D

Drammy
03.02.2006, 07:35 AM
The hacker will have gained access into the Forum accounts, not the Website admin. The database can be backed up from both places.

So as long as Sunesha has left Juho and 3o3 the username and password for the Website admin there will be no problem.

It just needs to be done before someone insults this guys once to many times...

Thanks Drammy, that was the answer I was looking for. :D

I just assumed that having access to the "Sunesha" account would mean access to the admin side of things too. Now that I think about it, it doesn't make sense to set a forum up like that.
