Dear marc,
I have contacted the access sales hotline and asked them, when the next batch of viri will be shipped. This was the answer:
Hello ******************,
Thank you for your mail. We're shipping another big batch of Virus TI synthesizers in the next few
days to our international distributors. I'm not involved in sales, so I have no exact overview on how
many units are shipped to which country, but this definitely can be told by our local distributor.
I got the reply at 5. feb
Today, I've seen at www.thomann.de the following:
Lieferbarkeit dieses Artikels: Voraussichtliche Lieferung am 24.03.2006
Now please tell me what's true. And tell me by what number I have to multiply your answer. Ok, I stop bitching now...
I'm waiting three monts for my virus now. Please tell me was Sache ist

dear dr. orange,
what our sales department told you is actually true: we don't know how distributors allocate the units they receive. and the distributors don't know how the shops allocate their units. thoman is a shop selling to customers - there could be 10 people in thoman's waiting list or 1... so how can we know when they will have one available for you? and don't ask me about why it is exactly the 24.3.2006 ...
if i would be in your shoes i would order one in a local store. don't put any money down, just get on the list. if they tell you that you need to put money down, go somewhere else. neither us nor our distributors collect money upfront.
best, marc

Hi marc,
yes, that's exactly what I've done - three months ago... I was at thomann for another thing and had a look whether they have some TIs available - I considered buying it there because I don't wanna wait another month, but that actually would be the case... If the batch has already been shipped, it's a matter of a few days till I get mine I suppose... I'll see
Have you put a deposit down?
nope

marc,
today is feb 17. I got the reply of access that access will ship the next batch in few days feb 5.
Have you shipped it already? Or do we have to wait another "few" days?
I mean, why else should my question to sales (and I have it sent to the sales departement email adress) be replied by someone who's not involved in sales? That you can tell us that "that was no official sales reply, so we cannot guarantee anything" afterwards? Probably I shouldn't even trust your answers here on this forum, because it's inofficial as well. I'm fed up with begging for true/official and exact answers.

Drammy
Hi Drammy,
yes, I have tried other stores as well, but the fact why I have bought here in our local store is a reduction in price a german store would never do...
This is my decision: I have sent the question once again to the access sales departement and begged them not to forward it to someone else who's not involved in sales so that I get an official reply. I will post it here as well...
Depending on the answer, I will wait for my TI or buy a Supernova and a Virus C for the same money instead... I simply need an upgrade in my studio anytime soon and can't afford waiting any longer... Threee monts, tell me where else customers have to wait three months for their product? Tell me where else customers have to beg for official answers?
Concerning the access support, there are two opinions: the one is that they care about their customers like they were their own baby and give it the dummy and the other is that access has a "buy and fuck you" attitude. You can imagine on which side I am...
Well, now since the TI is selling well, you can even exclude the "buy and" part...

My experience is most large stores wont put you in the queue until you make a commitment while demand is exceeding supply (unless you have a particularly good relationship with that particular retailer).
Once they have spare stock, then thats different, but if there are waiting customers who have allready given over a credit card details as a comittment to buy, then naturally those people will get priority.

there's no single access virus ti available in switzerland, no single unit!
The shop assistant told me that access never tells them when they ship the next batch.

Just to put some perspective on the situation...
A friend of mine placed an order at a local pro audio shop (Sydney, Australia) for an Alesis ION. This was in November, of 2005. It is now almost March, 2006, and NO-ONE can give him an answer as to when he will recieve his ION. He is getting the same run-a-round.
This type of thing is commonplace, it is not just Access being fucked. Alesis is a big company, and the same thing is happening with a synth that is 100% functional.

Okay, I got an answer at last:
Hallo ********** - We have had production capacity problems in coping with the enormous back-order for these products. These are now partly resolved, and we hope to start delivering again during March. Thanks for your patience, and with best regards.
I'd like to repeat what access told me feb 5:
[...]We're shipping another big batch of Virus TI synthesizers in the next few
days to our international distributors.[...]
and again, he HOPES to stard delivering during march, so to me, that means there will be another two months...
I'm on ebay looking for a used Virus C, definitely fed up with access.

What the fuck do you expect them to do? They are producing as fast as they can and I imagine did ship units in february as they said, it just happens that the place you're ordering from didn't get any. That isn't Access' fault. You are complaining to the wrong people, Access don't decide where the units go, the distributors do.
Why not order from somewhere else that has units? People have pointed out to you that other shops have them currently in stock.

to give me my synthesizer
They are producing as fast as they can
if you gotta wait up to five months, that's not fast enough obviously
I imagine did ship units in february as they said
that was what someone said who's not involved in sales. The second answer is from someone involved in sales; I asked him when they shipped the most recent batch if there's one or when the next one will be shipped...*
Why not order from somewhere else that has units?
Because I cannot afford it there
People have pointed out to you that other shops have them currently in stock.
That's very kind, thank you for that!
---------------------------------------------
*EDIT: This is what I asked them:
Hello,
please don't forward this question anymore to access employees who aren't involved in sales.
I need an official answer from the sales departement by someone involved in sales.
When will you ship the next batch of Viri to Switzerland? Or have you delivered a batch very recently?
I'm already waiting for three months for my virus, and that's definitely too much, so I at least deserve a true and official answer.
Kind regards

I will bump this until I get my virus to prevent visitors of this forum from ordering one
oh yes, and don't trust mark, he's a lier. well, don't trust access in general, when they mention dates, you gotta add one to three months, then you have the right date...
marc said that the response from that access employee at febtuaty 5 was true, that the virus will be shipped in a few days, and so that thomanns march 24 was wrong. fifteen days later, they responded that they HOPE to ship during march, so thomanns march 24 is right... and since they HOPE to ship during march, it may as well happen one or more monts later...

You just don't get it do you? As marc said Access don't control where the units go after they get to the distributors and they don't know how many people are on waiting lists.
You have been told that there are units available elsewhere but don't want to buy them there as the price is higher. The cost of getting the virus cheaper is waiting longer, don't want to wait? Pay more and get one now. Seems really simple to me.
I wouldn't bother replying, but you seem to want to bad mouth Access because you are cheap. Not due to anything they have any control over.

No it doesn't, all it seems to mean is that any units that went to the distributor in early feb didn't get through to the shop you have ordered from.
Also, audiomidi.com have a back stocked ti for sale at the moment which would be US$2500 including shipping. Turnkey with their lowest price guarantee would be US$2,680. Hell audiomidi have non back stocked for US$2700 including shipping. I can't imagine $20 is worth saving for the wait... What price are you getting out of interest.

.. seem to have Virus TI Desktop in stock. Give them a call; I have ordered from them in the past and they are real cool.
In the US, Sam Ash seems to have TI's in stock:
http://www.samash.com/
I called them a couple of days ago and confirmed that they had five Polars in stock. You'll also see that they have some "open box" specials on the Polar and Keyboard versions... The guy I spoke with said that these were used at the NAMM show and Sam Ash had bought them up.
