Hi All,

This is one of those problems that drives you nuts - I hope someone can help!

I have had an access virus B for a week now, and am absolutely loving it. Great sounds, really helping my writing and generally provided much fun!

Thw only problem is.. my laptop has blue screened and crashed on me 5 times... and it never happened once before I got the virus.

Now - I know the virus only plugs into my sound card, but - could that be whats doing it? Its so annoying when im in the middle of a track and it goes..

Im running a P3 HP laptop 512mb ram
Windows XP Home
Ableton Live 5.2
Tascam US122 Audio interface
Access Virus B OS 4.9

All guidance appreciated.

I should probably also mention, it crashes at exactly the same time... when playing back my track in the sequencer, as soon as I hit the drop after the break - it crashes.

Ive never had trouble coping before - with many more tracks running than there currently are.

how odd!

Blue screen,Shit????
We sometimes have Asio problems after our Breaks when all instruments start again...We get over this by highering the Latency of the soundcard. What soundcard you using anyway??
You could always start the parts during the Break and turn the volume right down so the soundcard gets the midi parts one at a time so it don't get a midi shock when all guns start firing??

Ok thanks I might try that.

Im downloading an update to ableton (to 5.0.3) and an windows update so that may make a difference.

It could also be a software VSTi/Vst effect plug playing up,by starting them up one at a time you can find out which one might be playing up.If it is a certain VSTi/vst effects Plug, record it solo to audio and disable the Problem...

OK - have just updated live and windows, and its ok.. just!

but - I hear it 'click' as it hits the drop.. so it might be similair to what you are saying, only - to counter that problem, I have bounced the 'big' sounds to audio.

Im wondering if its the sound card drivers . I was using M Audio FW - then when I got my virus, I switched back to the Tascam cos the M-audio didn't have the inputs I needed (whereas the tascam did).

Cheers again

Even my TI connected via usb never caused a blue screen in my daw.Doh, midi is the last to blame for troubles on your pc. Winblows plug & pray is the only answer to your bsod.

this happened to me for a while but seems to have stopped. not sure why, but you should be very cautious about how you deal w/ the usb cable. make sure to unplug the usb from the ti if not using the computer vc. the blue screen of death sucks, i know!
