You could just use a VST exciter, or bite the bullet and buy some hardware.

I only know freeware vst exciters, and those couldn't persuade me at all...
do you know good vst exciters? (they may cost some bucks of course if they are worth the money, I love exciter sounds)
I wanted to go for hardware exciters, but only the expensive ones could persuade me, but they sound very very good imho

Do you mean an exiter like the BBE or the DBx units ?

How about Aphex 204? - price on them is quite good these days...

hmm, I don't know those units
How about Aphex 204? - price on them is quite good these days...still way too high to me...

Turnkey in London have them for 165UKP.
About as cheap as you get in *worthwhile* hardware exiters new.

the older DBX units are less then ?100 ukp and the BBE units turn up from time to time as cheap as chips.
But if you need an exciter then there is probably something wrong with your monitoring as the TI can produce more high-end fizz than your tweeters can deal with.
Have you done a simple check on your wiring lately ?

Did you try Izotope OZONE? I'd say it has a great harmonic exciter under the hood...
