From the Virus mailing list...

dear list,

I thought I give you a little status update on version 1.1 for the Virus TI.

for a while we found ourselves in a fairly tricky situation. it was
expressed so many times (not by us though) that 1.1 will be _the_ problem
saver for everybody and everything and for obvious reasons that puts extra
pressure on us. "extra" in the respect that it is harder to put out a OS
release which would be "good enough" to satisfy.

in software development, there is always room for fixing and improving
things - and things often takes more time than expected.

OS1.1 was planned to be _just another_ feature update but turned into
something more. if we would have released 1.1 as it was planned back in
december we would have easily made it in february.

the good news is: right now, we are wrapping things up. by the end of the
week we plan to issue a "release candidates" to our testers. a release
candidate is another beta version but from this point onwards to the release
version there will be no further additions.

there has been reworks on many core parts of the virus control, drivers and
the virus TIOS. we have tripled our beta tester base and to be honest, we
have learned a lot.

I think there is a good chance that we will release 1.1 within 2-4 weeks
from now on - obviously just in case nothing unpredictable will happen from
now on. from the release onward we hope to put out versions more frequently
again in order to present you with an improved version quicker.

we have considered releasing a public beta but decided against it. a public
beta which is supposed to fix important problems doesn't help much - unless
you can truly say that it will fix those things. it's still a beta and there
is still a reason why it's not a release build.

with regards

Good news! Either the reworking are going to spell more trouble or a nice fix. Only time will tell.

Great news, finally. Let's hope once this blows over we can get Access linked to this site again.

Did you know that lying is a benchmark of true intelligence ?
So that means Access are rocket scientists !

SO, if an Access employee comes up to you and says "I'm really intelligent" that means....errr.....oh crap

Yeah, boy oh boy, we had better not moderate this site or we'd miss all these insightful and useful posts.

Mmmm....

I do agree that Dr.Orange posts are now bordering on Trolling...

Dr.Orange: We all know you hate Access and the TI, it's old news and boring. Bring something constructive to the table...

Yeah, its a real pisser that the bloody thing likes to crash and blow tweeters in your face from time to time, but apart from that, what else sounds like it ?

Not much.

Its been pretty stable lately, and I've been able to write with it.
If v1.1 solves half the issues I'll be quite happy.

But his are by far the funniest - he was dishing out so much crap to all the users of the TI, but then he still bought one! Frustrations being a beta tester there Dr O? :D

I for one hope that the new OS will be a gift with which every TI will become trouble free. Even I'm getting sick of the posts in LARGE letters.

I've had next to zero probs wit the Ti, and its the best piece of music making equipment i've ever purchased. WooPeedoo me, though its very true.

I didn't realise Access had pulled away from this forum, what a shitter that is. Who can blame them right enough with some of the brainless comments that have been flying around, like:

ACCESS SUCK BECAUSE... ERM.. BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND THINGS. YEAH!! I DON'T UNDERSTAND SHIT. SO THE MORE I AGRIVATE THE MORE ADVERSE CHEMICAL REACTIONS GO ON IN MY BRAIN AFFECTING EVERY CELL IN MY BODY, AND THE HARDER ACCESS WORK TO RELEASE OS UPDATES. WHAT? YOU MEAN THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT WORKS? YOU MEAN I'M JUST MAKING AN ARSE OF MYSELF IN CAPITAL LETTERS? Pfffffffffffff Who would have thunk?

You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while.

Dear forum dudes, can the time limit be reduced on this as it seems a bit lengthy and impractical?

I have lowered it from 60 to 30 secs but that is as low as I really want to take it...

So are they alluding to the fact that there might be some new features on top of the long awaited bug fixes?

I never took the "3-4 weeks" thing seriously anyhow.
My TI is sitting propped up against the desk and will probably remain there until the Universal Binary appears sometime in 2008.

All the other kit I have is not a patch on the TI, but they don't blow tweeters like exploding tissue paper into my face.

I can use it if I persevere, but I have to get on and do stuff.

But hey it LOOKS lovely.

I should imagine it would be sometime before access include new features into the TI. They have to be 90% sure that most of the problems have been addressed....especially before they introduce more. God I hope they let go of the TI concept and go back to making a decent standalone synth. Why dont they make an effects VST plugin.....or a drum machine. Time to diversify or die.
