OK here's some more patches created on the V-Synth. I kinda rushed recording these ones, so there are a few pops and click, plus I may have crushed it a little too much with the multi-band, but you'll still get the idea.

You can find the MP3 by going to the Soundclick link in my signature and the looking for the VSynth Demo 2 file.

Sound run down.
1: Nordlead sample.
2: Exactly the same Nordlead used in sound 1, but I put the Cosm modules on the V in a different order, plus added different FX.
3: Plucked string sample.
4: OSC 1 was one of the first pads I created, OSC 2 is actually a power drill sample.
5: The same power drill sample used for OSC2 on sound 4, but changed into a lead-kinda-thing.
6: Basic Analogue bass sample.
7: Didgeridoo loop completely fucked with.
8: The original hoover ("what the" patch) from the Juno, but changed into this thing. I actually created the "what the" patch on the V too by the way, but you don't hear it here.
9: Metal hit.
10: Exactly the same metal hit sample used in sound 9 - believe it or not!
11: This one was my wife saying "aahhhh" directly into the V via a cheap headphone mic.

I haven't even gotten into the different mix stuff yet (FM, Env-ring ect). It just feels endless at the moment.

This thing is by far the most fun I've ever had making sounds!

HC,
Fuckin Ace demo!

My fav's were by far were the #5 drill bit lead. Good god that thing is mad!!! And your wife's vocal sample was much too cool.

Thanks mate! :D

I'll pass those words onto the wife.

Very nice demo! I once tried V-Synth at a local music store and it felt good. Maybe some day when the prices come down... :)

Dude...

Awesome! I didnt think you could get any darker or evil, but, there we have it!

HC, since when did you buy a V-Synth? Did I miss something?

Steve, fekking primo sounds, Bro!

Very, very nice.

I shall listen to your other demos while at work tomorrow...

Cheers!

Nice HC, nice.

I agree with Merlot - Sound 5 is incredible.

I once tried making a sound by sampling a dremel multi drill!

But hey it was along time ago - I even tried making a hoover with, well ermmm, a hoover! Stuck a mic up the vacuum nozzle - sounded like shit!

Thanks for listening guys!

I played around with doing some slowly evolving sounds last night - it really excells at this kinda stuff. Setting the step-modulator to run forwards then backwards (in different time sigs) attached to 4 destinations, then having aftertouch attached to more destinations, sounds never are static at all!

DS, yeah I bought a V-Synth rack about 2 weeks ago. I haven't had much time with it yet due to work reasons, but the time I have had with it really makes me wish I bought one earlier.

Hahaha! Classic. That's it I'll take a sample of the vacuum cleaner in the next few days then I'll post the results. :D

Variphrase has it's quirks though. Many sounds will not work at all with it - sounds have to be completely dry, plus it's better to have the samples longer as the loop points change once you turn it on. Having said all that though, you can always use it just like a normal sampler, but with many routings, envelopes, velocity curves and Cosm - in short this thing kicks arse! :D

Great sounds :D Sounds like i fun toy you got yourself there. With some creative thinking you could really do some wicked sounds

Im glad you like it. Nice sound design btw. Does the D50 card come as standard in the rack?

Yeah the D50 comes standard, but I haven't spent much time with it yet - looks easier to program than the original though, as more stuff is on the screen. It also has a new set of waveforms that the original didn't have which is nice.

Yeah, it certainly has changed the way I look at sampling that's for sure!

Great demo!.

I got a Virus, a Juno and a new V-Synth GT, what settings did use to program the Juno hoover sound on the V-Synth?

I can sample it in from the Juno, but it would be nice to replicate it using the oscillators as the V-synth has the Juno oscillator type.

Cheers

Hey John, welcome to the board!

I will take a look for you next time I am in the studio - it's been a while since making that sound.

Regarding the onboard VA waves though: I seem to get much better results using sampled waveforms than using the VA ones - even resampling saws to make a 'supersaw' then detuning two copies of the resampled-madness makes for a better sound. The only onboard OSC I use in the feedback one - that is very cool and can't really be got by sampling.

ok I now want/need a V-synth ! :(

Yep, they are damn fun units. Everytime I sit down with the thing something different comes out of it! The only downside are the filters - they can sound ok, but you need to use the isolator/filter combo in the FX section as well as the Cosms - feels like a waste.

I have a few bits of gear I would never get rid of, and the V is one of them for sure. :)
