View Full Version : xtk + sh101 demo
I just recorded another weird track using xtk and sh101. I tweaked both synths at the same time and recorded into logic. The file is quite big (21MB) and the length of the track is about 15 minutes.
Here's the LINK (http://www.quandace.com/f5d_xtk_sh101_duo.mp3)
CAUTION! Don't break your monitors!

Hey what are the chances of maybe grabbing some dry SH101 wave-files? :D
EDIT: I decided to DL now and push my family to one side for a while. Nice stuff mate! That XT has a cool dark characture for sure.

Wow! You are really digging into this thing! I cant wait to hear all of your future XTk endevours :D Maybe a trance demo akin to your Andromeda demos is in the future?
By the way, have you checked out the supersaw wavetable for the XTk? You can snag it here:
http://www.carbon111.com/mwxt.html
That site is a great XT resource in general. I used the supersaw wavetable in some of the sounds in this demo(sorry for the poor playing skills):

Well in fact I still used a performance program of the XTk and tweaked only some parameters of both synths. The XTk was playing the drum beat and arpeggio. I had to use my headphones' cable to make one key pressed all the time so I could tweak both synths.
I haven't had really time to play my XTk very much because I'm very busy at school right now but it amazes me every time I turn it on. I will try to understand more how to program sounds with it in a few weeks and start making my really own sounds. :)

Yes, I have checked that site a few times and noticed that different kinds of wavetables are available, including the supersaw. I will try these soon.

Thanks for the demo. That sounds interesting. Maybe I will load the supersaw into the XTk and misuse it in every possible way  but for the real trance supersaw sounds I programmed some of my real JP8080 patches to Andromeda before I sold my JP, so I fire the A6 up any time I need a JP sound. The A6 is also an amazing synth. It can sound like an old analog synth and then in seconds it's a supermodern bright sounding trance heaven. In fact I haven't heard any closer imitations of JP80x0 with any other synth. Maybe I'll post a demo in the future.
Did I say I am a synth freak?

:D Ok, I will look into this in a few weeks. I have been thinking of sampling my 101 extensively. We'll see then if I can share some of the samples. I'll keep that in mind.

nice demo. F5d, What do you think about the wavetables on the XTK comparing to the TI? I heard mixed reactions, I think the tables on the ti is awesome for ambience and everything. when programmed rightly, you could make patches like in the atmosphere. I never played with the XTK :)
Well, I haven't tried a Virus TI yet so I cannot say much about the wavetables. I will purchase a TI keyb when Access gets it working as a normal synth without crashes and the bootup problem, just like Virus KC. I would never use the VC software because it's usb.

Is there an XTk trance demo in the works? :D

I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to think about it. I may ask if the cats could do it because they have done all the other demos too. I just put my name on it and upload it to my server. Currently they're quite busy playing the 101, it seems.
I owned a Ti and now own an XT, the wavetables on the XT are more usable than on the Ti and they have more punch whereas the Ti wavetables are sluggish in comparison. The Ti is better for pads but the XT is better for dirt.
