Check this out. Its the first song ive seen in some time where the production actually made me stop and think. Some neat effects on those vocals...
I wonder how it was done. Must have taken some time...
I also hear some Virus sounds in there....

ah BT,
the effects you hear are made on the Kyma dsp system.
its mainly grainular stuff\fft filtering.
can also be easly done today using software such as reaktor, supercollider and more...

he also does alot of it by slicing audio with the scissor tool and rearranging it. Takes forever, but when you are a perfectionist making loot it really doesn't matter.

I've seen this being done in Cubase. Lots of chopping and stretching with the right tools gets some incredible effects.

I was messing with my MD today and had it doing a dirtier version of this with various synth sounds. Basically capturing to the 2 ram machines at various points in a bar and replaying until re-capture.
It made me wonder if theres a high quality triggerable sampler around that could do this kind of thing on the fly...

Theres a plugin that comes with Ableton Live that can do similar stuff.
Micro-audio bursts with pitch modulation etc.
You can do it using (old skool) Tracker software sequencers (like the old OctaMED, or a bang-up-to-date tracker like www.Renoise.com (previously called NoiseTrekker in the old skool days)) by using retriggering/delay type programming effects.
