Btw,how much did you pay for thos? 3-4 k?
In fact they're BM15P (passive) which are not very expensive but since they're dynaudio's they reveal easily if you run them with cheap equipment so you have to put some money on the amp too. With a good amp they can leave the BM15A's behind (more clean spl, more natural treble). It's up to your taste which one you like best (active or passive) but for me it seems that the BM15P was the right choice.

I spent many years to get some of my synths (especially xtk and sh101) because they were available only second hand and I don't buy synths which are in bad condition. Btw, the bass station is a "super" model. :D
Oh, you have a Q keyboard! It has to be great! I've been thinking about selling the microQ and buying a new Q16 keyb but waldorf seem to have some kind of trouble supplying them. :?

yes it does come with the rack ears, but you need another motu device, like for example for me, the micro lite to be able to mount it with, since it's only a half rack. and i love it. much better than the old firewire 410 i used to use.

Microwave XT should have some bugs but I haven't seen them yet. For me it's enough if a synth doesn't crash and I don't see any bugs when playing with it and doing normal recordings. MicroQ also have some bugs but I haven't found them either. Of course if you get a faulty unit, you might get more trouble just like Virus TI.

you sold your D8B?? What are you using as a mixer? Are you in the Box only now? I use 2 D8B's and could not live without the flexability...at least that is what I think right now...so I am always curious how others that have chosen to get rid of their's work now without it. I would be interested to know what you are using for a mixer and DAW and how you get the outboard gear into and out of the DAW??
Nice setup by the way!

Hey there fellas,
I converted my garage into heated/cooled living space two years ago. It is now my studio/office/guest room/den. Recently I got the carpet cleaned and had to clean the whole place out and put it all back together again.
I also have streamlined my equipment via getting rid of a few things (Yamaha Motif ES Rack, some rack hardware, old crap Behringer UB-1204 Mixer, etc.) that I never used so I can concentrate on using my core equipment to its fullest potential. I switched all my software/songs to a laptop and firewire AI so that I can go mobile (I do some mobile DJ work and run it all off my laptop, and also to record with other folks around town) because sometimes with 2 young kids you can't turn it up loud...
Although not nearly as pimp a studio as much of what has been posted, it's a great little spot and it fits my needs.

You can see in the first pic I have quite a few guitars, including a pretty sweet Gretsch and a vintage Fender, but I assumed people here were more interested in synths.
Lots of us here are interested in other things apart from synths...
I think AlexHall is a keen guitarist, as is Matsa/Old Man Banter, I'm a keen guitarist/drummer/didge player/Knob twiddler...
I have a gorgeous American Fender from the 80's, when I get home I'll take some pics

Another one here - I make strange noises on guitar. and bass.. beat the hell out of drums and really piss off the neighbours sometimes with a sax and annoy everyone with vocals - very rarely at jam sessions :)
Mainly Im a synth head, paino second, drums 3rd.
Nothing compares to drums for quickly clearing out a frustrating day... and nothing compares to a piano for chilling out a stressy day. Guitar - well thats for chilling when your wasted, and Synths and a drum machine - well - thats the uplifting energy boost to lay waste to whatever gets thrown at you ;)

Hmmm...is it like you're trying to login to your router?
Sometimes my DNS got screwed up when I hosted my own website using www.no-ip.com as a means to redirect people to my PC instead of a "real webserver."
Sometimes when I tried to access content on my site the router prompted me for a logon. Really weird; I don't remember how I fixed it.

I just ordered a new big workstation (studio desk) from Germany. It should arrive after 3 weeks and I will take some pictures and post here. :)
i just bought a nice new chair too, my back's been f*#ked for years and i've had a crappy chair, but i just bought this and it's sooooo nice, i was going to buy an Aeron but to tell you the truth i tried 3 different ones, all with different sizes and couldn't find one that felt good, either the back of my legs were digging in the front edge or i couldn't get the lumbar area feeling good.A friend also has one that i've sat on for prolonged periods and always felt like i needed to keep re- adjusting myself. Anyway i ended up buying this http://www.bizchair.com/me7erg-euro.html
and couldn't be happier, to me it's way comfier and cheaper than the aeron :)
Anyway i ended up buying this http://www.bizchair.com/me7erg-euro.html

Yes, it's very important to spend some money on a good chair, desk etc. too and not everything on synthesizers and other gear. I have noticed this lately. Altough you would have tons of gear but if they're arranged badly it's very difficult to do anything with them. And the chair is very important for the reasons you already said and because that's what you have to use all the time.
I bought a better chair 2 years ago but it still isn't the best possible chair. I guess I'm gonna buy a new one at some point but now I'm waiting for my new workstation. It's desk size is 200x100 cm, it has a big sliding shelf for a keyboard, 2x10u rack space on the sides and I also ordered 2x 4u racks for the top. I had been looking for such a workstation for a long time but didn't find one and neither didn't want to spend so much on a workstation. It cost 980 euros including shipping. At first I thought that it's too expensive because I could get another synth with that money but then I realized that a good workstation is really important and I could finally arrange all my gear nicely. I would like to work so that all my gear is in front of me and I can reach the knobs easily etc. I guess this will finally be true. :)
In fact I just sold my 24u rack and monitor stands. I still have my keyboard stand but I guess I'm gonna sell it too because the workstation has room for all the gear I currently have and there will still be plenty of room for other rack equipment because I've sold many synths from my rack (which I regret :D ).

Great studios you boys have.

Another guitar lover here :)
Just ordered one of those light refracting lazer thingies for my studio. Cheers whoever posted about that. Should make a massive difference to the ambience of my setup. Will get some new pics once everything is rearranged.
I just got the maxxstation workstation from musicstore germany. Finally I can arrange my equipment like I want! The workstation is very big, 2m x 1m and heavy. It's made of beech plywood and it's lacquered. The only downside is that you can see the plywood structure at the edges but the finish is still very good. All corners and edges are smooth. The racks are very well designed and it's very easy to install your rack equipment. The workstation comes with all bolts and nuts for the racks.
Here are 2 pics which I just took. The main 2x10u racks are almost empty now but I will start filling them soon. The power amplifier is on the bottom of the right side rack. I guess nord rack 2x will be the first synth rack which will go to the left side. :)
At first it might look like the monitors were too high but they're not, at least for me. In fact the BM15's sound like ass if you put them in horizontal position. I tried that at first but the sound is just horrible, full of anomalies due to the position and reflections from the table. They must be installed in vertical position, like I have in the picture. Then the sound is perfect.

You basterd! you've stolen my dream setup!
btw,you should really get proper stands for your Dyna.
By sitting them on a desk the desk transfars alot of energy to the room making it resonate and degreding your monitoring enviroment.

In fact I had monitor stands but just sold them. This is just a temporary decision because I will move to a new place soon. I just noticed that I have a bigger problem with about 130Hz frequency now than with separate monitor stands. I will get some bass traps and other acoustic panels for my new apartment, and probably separate speaker stands too. Currently I must use a software eq to attenuate the 130Hz when using monitors. And like I mentioned, the bm15's don't work at all if I put them in horizontal position. The surface of the desk starts to affect the sound alot more and the bm15's don't work in that position altough you would use separate stands. Right now I get a usable sound if I suck the 130Hz away and I have 2 absorber panels on my walls which reduce reflections from the side walls above ~500Hz.
It really seems that some of the bass energy goes to the desk and it starts to resonate if I turn the volume up. Anyway, I am quite happy now and I will fix these problems as soon as I get to the new apartment. :)
