I was wondering if the side chain effect with virus and a midi channel, you have to use the virus 1 or 2(buses) to do this or it is possible to wire the midi channel to a audio channel in Cubase sx 3?

 I hope you're not asking if midi transfers audio  :D or do you mean control the side chain with a midi value?

I'd love to know how to do side chaining etc so if anyone has any tips could they please help me too. I'm on the TI so I can do most of my audio no problem, but anyone doing this already or got any good tips for plugs (I'm skint so free would be good)?

Cheers
Kris

No man it's not that...lol
I read somewhere that it is possible to wire the midi channel to a audio channel so it's possible to do the side chain instead of using the ti bus to do that, because we only have 2 ti buses.

Side-chain in Cubase and waves C-1.

Put the kick(only for signal) all the to the left, create a group channel and wire the kick to this channel.
Put the Ti bus all the way to the right and wire to the group channel as well.
The group channel needs to be mono.
ratio 2:1
release 80
attack 2
threshold 35

That's it very easy...

the problem with the ti is only have 2 buses available if you use only for side chain, there is only one left.

Another way is to bounce the bass to audio...

ecsmix: Try the midi gate in SX3 instead...Gives similar results and keeps the audio bus free for other plugins :)

madstation, could you please give me some information on how to try this with the midi gate, I'll be looking through the net at how to get this side chaining thing.

Cheers
