Hello all,
I received this email from the AMPFEA list today whilst at the office.
It gave me a good chuckle to hear a current Ti owner state in their message that they would trade someone their Ti desktop for a Virus C desktop!

But, honestly, you know what i've wanted since i ordered the TI??!! A virus C. Brand spanking new factory smelling perfectly clean virgin virus C keyboard. I still want it. The TI has just today cost me another deadline. It seems only to fuck out on big jobs, right at the end. I use it standalone, no USB, and after six weeks of smooth function, i decided to actually start using it as a pro instrument, and no less than 14 brandspanking new patches later, the cunt starts popping, clicking, crackling and just being a retard. Now jou can imagine how virus-heavy this track is, and jou can imagine how shitty it sounds without all that detail. Now sure you guys can maybe help me out again, but i simply cannot be dependant on a mailing list or access support when minutes start to matter.
You want to know how many problems i had with my virus A? NONE. Nord? NONE. Andromeda? NONE. My mate's redback's been flawless since day one, about three years now without a hitch. Make the c-series again, i say. Maybe add a remote feature for the 'added features' or whatever. But please bring it back, it's the best synth i've ever worked on, IMHO, and i never trusted the whole TI thing anyway. Also, i'm totally willing to swop my TI desktop for virus c desktop, as long as it's PRISTINE.
Virus C is a LEGEND

I wish Martin the best of luck in either resolving his Ti issues or in locating an individual who is willing to trade him thier Virus C desktop for his Ti.
I love my KC more every day!!!

A pretty alarming story. I have plans to get a TI to replace my Classic.
What say you guys with a TI?

Hey there soulidstate,
I have never played a TI, but I have kept up with them since their <extremely delayed> release and also listened to the online demos.
It sounds great to me, it sure has nice specs, but I have hear alot of horror stories like the one above.
I have also heard however that most of the "showstopper" bugs are worked out and that the TI is the best its ever been, butsome still feel they are a beta tester.
I bought a KC new about 5 months before the TI came out. I did not get buyer's remorse because quite frankly I still had not mastered programming my KC (I still haven't, Ach! Been too busy!) and felt no need to sell my KC, drop an extra thousand dollars, and start over with a TI.
Are you located close to a store where you can play one before buying?
If not, I would strongly consider purchasing from an online retailer that has a 30-45 day money back guarantee. This gives you some security and peace of mind.
Cheers!

Hi Alex.
Unfortunately I'm from Asia that's why I can't try it out and ship back if I don't like it to an online store. Shipping cost alone is tremendously expensive.
I guess a good indication that the TI is good well is this forum. I can say the it is relatively quiet now unlike before so I would assume that TI owners are almost if not fully satisfied.
I will opt to get one from eBay so I can save more.
Thanks
I think if I was to use a TI I wouldn't hammer the crap out of it, trying to squeeze every last voice out of it. On my indigo I tend to use it mono- or bi-timbrally, mainly due to poly, but I also think you can have too much of the Virus sound in your tracks.
Even if it sported 24bits @ 96KHz I'd still use the audio outs on it, too! I think the audio-in/out souncard business side of things is a gimmick. Professionals mostly have their own dedicated multi-in/out soundcard or external mixer.

That's a damn good point, Timo. Why force maximum polyphony through a little USB cable? Why wasn't the damn thing made with a firewire interface? It's already expensive enough, it's not like choosing firewire over USB would have been the "straw that broke the tweakheadz's backs."

I would swap my VirusC for a VirusTI no problem!
The only reason is I would be able to sell the TI for more used.

I really wanna fund a few new toys and having a TI to sell would be very nice. If that makes me a whore then so be it! I am a whore, and I'm ready to sell my disease infested arse!
How much? Can I sublease you to my neighbors?
The first few OS revisions were shiteox, but its pretty solid now. And yea it runs out of poly a lot easier than the "80 max" would suggest. Hypersaw and wavetables are pretty cool tho.

With all due respect, its comments like this that made the Access team no longer wishing to be affiliated to this site.

Why DS?
It's just healthy competition between VirusC and TI owners! :D

Yes, I side with HC. <even though he didn't vote for me.>
Besides, I post this in jest and have made no derogatory ranting.
It's info like that contained in the post above that makes us VC owners sleep better at night now that there's a board out there with newer/different features.
Friendly competition, DS, it's part of being a grown-up!

Ive come full circle. Ive just bought a Nord 2X, Virus TI and some 824's. Its strange...but I think ill be quite happy with this minimalist set up. I still have some analog mono's for bass etc. Ive done the 6 synth set up for some time now and I really want something with modern tones. Alex, do you have a TI? No, wait...shit...you have a C

Well how about that, you're growing up Digi!
That's cool you are totally renovating your arsenal.
I am tearing mine down and rebuilding in a minimalist manner also.
All I am using now is:
1. Dell Laptop/Core Duo 1830/2 GB RAM
2. Mackie Satellite (to record audio)
3. Behringer B-2 Microphone, SM57s...
4. M-Audio Axiom 61 MIDI Controlller
5. Tracktion 2 (sequencer)
6. Wusikstation VST Synth
7. PAAX VST Sampler
8. Several FREE VSTs + Samples...
9. Virus KC!!!
10. Behringer 2031A Monitors
11. Seinheiser Headphones
I'm trying to get into graduate school, I have a job, I have a family, I only have so much time for recording and DJing right now, so I am using less in the hopes of using it more often.
Plus, my new rig is quite portable. I can break it down, load it into my car, and drive over to my friends house to record or jam if I like. I can't do that now with my current dekstop setup (PC/Behringer UB-1204 mixer, 2496, etc...)
I sold my Motif ES Rack (I never had time to get really deep into it), I'm selling my Technics 1200s (buying one turntable, a Stanton T.80 with digital pitch correction, to still be able to play/sample my records), it's all gotta' go!
So, I feel ya' Bro, shuffle the deck and break into a new game!
