Just watching this video and saw something interesting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2sLd4KY2dU

at 2:22 he presses a button and activates a rhythmic gate (typical trance sound, im sure you know what i mean)

But how?

Im a B owner and havent come across a way of doing that :o

before anyone flames me, i want to make it clear im not going to make a load of Cliché gated trance and yes i do know how to do it within my sequencer.
Im just curious since i thought i knew my virus inside out

Hi, that's just an arpeggiator pattern re-triggering the notes. It's not 'gating' as such in the traditional noise-gate/sidechain type of things.

That arpeggiator pattern is #3 if I remember. You can easily do it on a Virus B. - I do it on my 'virus b' Indigo. In general a sound patch would benefit from having fast filter/amp attacks and releases to make the arpeggiator work like a really choppy "on/off" gate.

Or you can have the audio input enabled, and in dynamic mode, then the audio coming through is gated by whatever steps are on from the midi going to that channel, as well as having the filter (if key following) be modulated by the pitches- nice for 'pitching' a highly resonant filter.
