Not funny, funny story:

I used to work with a bloke from Scotland who once told us:

Alaister:
Yes. My mother's very ill. She needs an operation.

To which Scouse Les replies:

Les:
Oh eye. 'Avin' 'er purse opened is she?

Ensue: Much mayhem..

lol, then theres the one about the shandy drinker who dropped a penny and knocked himself out as the penny hit him on the back of the head as he dived to pick it up.

I think we should boycott his sale of the Ti,for one this is his first post on this Forum so he never was interested in a Ti.
Why did he enter the competition in the first place, just to make a quick buck.... Tosser !!

I understand the criticism but hey, i´d do the same. Sell the bastard and buy a "normal" Pølar and use the rest of the cash on more synths :D If people are willing to pay way overprice for some gold glitter paint then who´s the most stupid

so this guy has a problem drinking brake fluid... His doctor tells him to be careful - brake fluid can be dangerous & addictive... He replies don't worry I can stop any time.

He has the right to do whatever he wants with the TI... seems he already has a indigo and Im sure he is more than happy with it.

Personally I would've held onto it for a bit longer.... made some more cash maybe.

Scielence
11.04.2007, 06:55 AM
Thanks so much for all the hostility, it's really big of all of you. ( Excluding Jasedee )

First off :

I have been a long time supporter of Access gear and would rather see this synth in a better, more well known studio than my own, for Access' benefit and exposure ( FACT ).
I don't have the space for this instrument or even most of my own in my small apartment / already own a monster Virus and would like to expand my setup elsewhere.
I already have more synths than I currently utilise, so adding another one really makes a lot of sense. I think it can be put to better use.

So go on big boys, feel free to dissect this post and slag me off some more.

You should try selling it to some west coast hiphop producer
they will pay you with high quality diamonds for this golden TI.

Scielence
11.04.2007, 08:35 AM
I've considered that, but it's impossible to get addresses for these people ( obviously ).

If you have some, feel free to disclose them to me :).

If you don't need it then why not give it to a kid that can't afford any decent gear?

Never !

Scielence: Don't mind old matsa! He's just insane!

My advice would be to try to sell it on Ebay.com instead and hopefully there is a big shot producer that could pay whatever you'd want for your TI.

I'd would never pay more just because someone's owned a synth or it's a "special" edition but I guess there is people doing that!

Hope you'll get that TI sold for loads of cash mate!

i'm being serious man..if you don't need the synth and have enough synths like you say then why not give it to someone less fortunate than yourself? someone who will trully appreciate your doing that for them and who will make full use of the synth

I'll do that if you give me your V-synth XT.

You've got seven more !

11.04.2007, 11:53 AM
yea cute

its you who says specifically that you don't need the synth and that you would rather it went with someone who would make good use of it, so instead of the apparent selfish greed and extortion why don't you give it to someone who cannot afford one and who would trully trully appreciate it and make full use of it?

Its just a suggestion

Scielence
11.04.2007, 12:14 PM
Au Contraire .. I said that I don't need another Access synth. Whether or not I could use it is a different kettle of fish. I'd much rather have a V-Synth GT, to be honest.

If I decided to keep it, which I considered for about a month before deciding upon this particular course of action, I would definitely be able to make very good use of it, make no mistake.

Selfish Greed ? Extortion ?

Gee Wizz dude ... that's quite a mouthful, and quite an unfair and scornful assumption if I may be so bold. Can you honestly tell me that you need all 8 your synths, and do you utilise them to their fullest capacity ?

Furthermore, if one of my kids were in a car accident, I wanted to take my girlfriend on an expensive and exotic holiday or I tried to raise money to buy a house, would that make it OK ? Can I sell it then or would I still be a selfish and greedy extortionist hmmm ?

Hmmm.... but then we have the problem of deciding whom would fit your model of "someone who would make good use of it"

Then we have to set up a new website.

http://www.goldfilter.com/are_you_worthy

And then hundreds of poor, synthless kids around the world have to submit 3 minute videos of playing air synth.

(Is this even funny? I've been smoking alot tonight)

Matsa: You're always insane! In whatever topic you reply!

Juho: Now that's something I really wanna see; An keyboard shaped like David Hasselhoff.

Scielence: I am just curious on how much you'd like to have for your TI?

What I meant in my first post; I'd never pay more just because someone famous owned the synthesizer before _but_ as I heard rumours about Liam's TB303 got sold for an _insane_ amount of cash I'd betcha there are loads of people that acctually do pay more because of this.

TI is a nice synthesizer, owning the one and only gold TI around probably would people pay more for it..! You gotta let us know if (and for how much you'd got for it).

Man, I am soo tired today

Scielence
12.04.2007, 06:59 AM
How much do I expect to get ?

I have no idea to be honest. We'll have to wait and see what happens .. quite exciting times ahead, methinks.

Ideally I would like to get more than the retail of a factory version Ti, and I think it is worth at least that, despite what people think.

XLR8A - My pleasure .. glad I could perk up your day !

I will keep you up to date on the proceedings .. all in good time my friends, all in good time.

Why did he enter the competition in the first place, just to make a quick buck.... Tosser !!

I agree

I think he is taking the piss if im honest

Im sure many true access fans worked hard trying to win that gold TI and if they won would have been proud owners for years to come

theMusicMan
14.04.2007, 08:49 AM
C'mon guys - ease up on him eh...?

OK, maybe he is looking to make a quick buck - and most of us here would have wanted to have kept this if we'd have won it (I would have for sure as I said in a previous thread) but there were no rules suggesting that only people who owned a Virus could enter the competition. He hasn't done anything wrong...

What I do think he could have done better however, was to consider offering some form of 'thank you' payment or gesture to Drammy - maybe as a small % of what he eventually receives from the sale of the Goldfilter - if it is sold through his free advertising of this on Infekted.com.

Done nothing wrong at all and I wish him well in his sale, but could have gone about in a more considered manner I guess.

S@wtooth
14.04.2007, 04:11 PM
If he never wanted it. why did he enter?

I saw the comp but wasnt bothered myself, tbh i dont want a gold TI or any other TI.
So dont think im posting out of jealousy

I just dont think its right entering things like that with the intention of selling it on.

The winner should have been some Access geek, who would have loved the synth. The kind who would still have it in 20 years time proudly on show

Get absolutely every fucking penny you can for this gold TI Scilence. Dont listen to these miserable jelous cunts on here, most people would do the same and whoever wouldnt is a fucking idiot.

There are going to be a a bunch of mugs out there where money is not an object and who desire such items like this. If there is people willing to pay a premium for it and who have the money why not let them?

Dont go cheap on some one time offer either, let it run and give it as much exposure as possible.

Scielence
15.04.2007, 04:59 PM
This thread sure has gathered mixed responses eh ..

As I've said countless times before, I considered keeping this synth for a very long time before deciding upon this particular course of action. I'm a great Access fan and think they deserve more exposure as a company, which is one of the reasons I'm doing this. Imagine this synth ends up in a well-known, famous studio or on stage with some famous band ? It would be great for their PR, wouldn't it. And whether you consider this a valid reason is up to you, but I certainly do.

If those of you slating me actually read all of my posts you will notice that perhaps I have other reasons too for selling this synth other than spending it on cheap booze, drugs and hookers, which is what you make it sound like. Thank you to those of you who don't blame me for what I'm doing. I appreciate the sentiment.

Unfortunately my current situation doesn't allow me to keep this instrument seeing as that I have other, more pressing priorities.

Make of that whatever you will.

3o3
15.04.2007, 06:07 PM
As I'd like to put it; Fuck it!

Who cares if you like Access or not? It's your synthesizer, do whatever you like with it! Sleep with it? No problem! Sell it? No problem! Set it on fire? No problem!

You won it, it was an great video you've made.. Be proud (and gimme me the golden TI hoho)..

Nah, but don't care.. If you don't like Access, fine! We could use this on everything;

"Hey XXX! Why are you selling your XXX XXX-synthesizer? Oh my! You're an evil evil person if you sell this, you don't love XXX-company!! Blargh!" It goes with everything and if people say; "Well hey, he won it.." Yeah, exactly! He won it! He does whatever pleases him.

Bloody hell people, this synthesizer is worth loads of cash as it's an great synthesizer..

Blarfgh!.. Too much whisky today..! It's summer in Sweden (= +25-30 C outside). An old friend came by and we had a whisky, another and another and another.. I don't got any whisky left! Buuuuuuuuuu!

There are going to be a a bunch of mugs out there where money is not an object and who desire such items like this. If there is people willing to pay a premium for it and who have the money why not let them?

I think that's it, it's probably no doubt gonna great in some bling bling american rap/hip-hop studio outfit (if that's your thing), especially the bigger artists, and they'd certainly have the money to do so. Gold is where it's at.

It's a strange beast. I guess everyone is thinking what they would have done with it. It's weird, I think if I won it I'd have kept it, but otherwise wouldn't pay any more for it than the current Polar if it were available to buy. Certainly has a bit of an 'ugly duckling' factor, perhaps looking kinda out of place in a working studio, but would fit in just right in a top-name hip-hop/rap studio. And that's definately where the money is, I think.

What other people would or would not have done with the Goldfilter has no consequence, and you absolutely have the right to do exactly what you want. It'll certainly be interesting to watch what happens. ... I predict ~£2000, purely for the status/bling hip-hop/rap factor. Sure, anyone can customise their synth using third-party companies, perhaps, but this one is different in that it's an official release and unique in that there is just one.

Any photos of the 'filter when its on, with all the LEDs and LCD etc.?

Nice well thought out website, too. The photos perhaps seem a little over-processed, though. Would like to see what it looks like in a neutral light, no post-processing/filters.

Good luck!

To be honest if I'd have won it, I would sell it for as much cash as I can get, buy a TI desktop and hopefully have enough cash for a Vsynth XT as well :P

Sorry Timo, no photos with the LED's on ..

Thanks for the comments about the site. Basic, clean and to the point, that's all I wanted, really. You're actually the first person to mention anything about it, so thanks.

I had to process the photos seeing as that it is nearly impossible to get good photographs of the unit without good lighting, so most of them came out in an orangey color. Besides, I don't have a digicam and the pics we took were at my work in the office boardroom. It currently spends its days under my bed in a box at the moment, until auction time ...

Good luck!

Thank you, I'll probably need it !

Made no difference to the price. Probably only worth paying extra if you know they're a programming gun and have left their patches on there.

Coming in late on this thread, but what can you do....

I just wanna tell you fuckers what i would have done with it if I had won it (although as I didn't enter that would have been a long shot).

If I couldn't have sold it for more than a new TI would cost, I would have ripped it appart completely and put all the guts into a new box - maybe something clear and plastic. Then with the remaining bits, I would have smashed the living shit out of them and posted the youtube video - just to piss everyone off.

My moto is "If you get something for free, treat it like shit, and rub that in the faces of those who care"

Hello All,

Long time no see ?

I suddenly remembered about the hilarious threads this synth produced, and thought it might be worth mentioning, since some of you were interested at the time, that I did end up selling it to a US producer mogul. Worked with Britney Spears and Beyonce amongst others, etc.

Made a reasonable amount out of it, can't remember exactly how much though, it's been such a long time ...

Anyway, it ended up paying for a bunch of things, set of Adams, a Sub 8 and some other important stuff at the time.

Anyway, just thought I 'd share ..

Cheers

Interesting story. Had to shake my head a few times while reading this thread. Think I'd do exactly what you did: a one time piece is more a collector's item then a musician's tool and if you got such a nice setup with the money, it's a good trade.

Some of their limited editions are actually a lot prettier then the originals: I like the snow and polar in black a lot more! But the golden one (did manage to find some pictures of it online) has a different impact on me, only strikes me as a luxury item and that's it!

We had some really badly treated Virus pictures of an old Indigo that's (kind of) survived a fire somewhere on this forum, also a "unique piece" in its own right. Anyway, think you should search for it and have a good laugh.

And remember: never care for the haters that lurk around the internet. cheers
