Hi

i've just (re)read the first pages of my virus C manual. It says the battery should be changed every 4 years or so. Because i bought a 2-hnd virus, i was wondering if i had to do this or not.

I don't have any problems with my virus, but just like to know why (saving the presets?). Would it be good to do so? And can i do it myself (and whats the cost?)

I have a Ti, so this is not an issue for me yet. However, I Can tell you what I know from reading these forums for a long time.

They say the battery lasts 4 years, but from what I remember they really last like 8 or 10 usually. I believe you have to solder the new battery on.

To back up your songs you have to do a midi sysex dump, I think you can do it with a free program like MIDI OX? (if I am wrong someone please chime in)
You will need a MIDI interface for your computer, but you can get a cheap midi-usb interface for $50.

hope this helps!

okido, thanks for the answer.

I had a look on the web and found this really easy (stand alone!) program called Universal Manager to back everything up.

Hi all!

Today I replaced my battery just to be sure!
Well... I backed up my A and B banks....
I replaced the CR2032 battery..... but when I
powered on my Virus C.... The RAM was still here!
I didn't lost my RAM! How is this possible?

Many thanks.

I'd guess there was a charged condenser that supplied power for the RAM during the battery was off.

I'm taking my Indigo I in for some repairs. It's about five years old so I thought that I would also put a new battery in.

A couple of questions:

1. Do the B series Viruses use the CR2032 battery?

2. Has anyone ever installed a battery holder in their Virus? I'm thinking the pro is easier battery swaps in the future. The con would be another soldered part that can shake loose.

Thanks

I don't know about the b series, but I replaced on in my old C indigo 2, and the battery was in a clip holder, there was no need to solder anything, slide out the old one, slide in the new one.
