Recommended self-powered studio monitors...?

as more experienced studio production people, what would you recommend as a definite buy for some self-powered monitors?

(edit) forgot to mention... at/around $300~350/pair, maybe incl or adding a sub later (if necessary for making some thick, kickin' basslines...?)

Thats a pretty tight budget. At that price there isnt much difference. Once you start spending a bit more, you get better quality monitors.

Cant really help you out there, the best advice I can give is go listen to them. Take a CD you know well, or better yet, convince the store to lend you a set and listen to them in your own studio space.

Event alp5 seems fit your needs... they sound flat and very accurate.
