I have been playing with the beta for a couple of weeks now. Man, this program just keeps getting better. The drum racks are insanely fun. Anyone else testing this out?

here's the latest Release Candidate - it's valid until December 5th. So if any of you have ever been interested in testing out Live, here is a fully functioning RC

I've been looking at Live now for a few days and I'm thinking of making the move. Doc, are you using it now? There's a version of Live 6 going on Finnish "ebay" for €230 and I'm very interested.

I heard the latest version has a 64bit mixing engine (finally), which has made me a bit more interested. Hope there is an audible difference though.

OVM, yeah I'm using version 7 now. Started out at 5, really started figuring things out with ver 6 and am now really enjoying 7. A few of the new features that I am really enjoying include the built in side chain capabilities of the new compressor and gate, external hardware integration into their device chains (this rocks) and of course the drum racks!! There's so much going on with this package, it is sick. and HC is right, the new version has a 64 bit mixing engine. I think it is a good idea to pick up a copy of 6 first and then upgrade to 7 - it will save you quite a bit of money.

Couple of weeks into Live 6. It's just on a different level. I'm completely gobsmacked by this app. I'm doing stuff I could only dream of 2 months ago. It's a joke to call it a sequencer.
The Ableton Live Power! book is an absolute gem as well.
Don't need 64-bit just yet and I can live without side-chaining for a while too. I'll wait for Live 8 and a new computer.

yeah, OVM, it really changed the way I make and interact with music. What I intuitively do in Live now used to take me three separate steps in cubase. The music making process now just smoothly flows for me.
Live 6 is a solid build, so I would stick with it as well (though the drum racks really do rock ;)

Doc, I think I have a problem. Just tell me how long I have...
I want to import a loop that actually begins a 1/4 beat before it should start to loop. The sample is 4 and 1/4 beats long. How to trigger it successfully in the Session view? Just tell me if it's possible. Don't expect you to write a long <how to> mate!
Err.. But if you could...
I'm making my guitar loops in Sonar. The audio clip editing is pretty good, and I can do it so quickly.

yeah, this is definitely doable. I am not in front of Live right but you just have to move one of the markers that designates where the loop starts from. This defines where you "fire" the loop from and then it goes into looping like normal. I'll test it out later on and let you know.
I'm using live for a while now, since version 3 as far as I remember. It's my main DAW. Just upgraded to 7 and it totaly rocks! Drum racks and sidechain are owsome, love to play with beat repeat with them and the gate.
Old Vantaa Man its easy as Doc Jones sais, just drag horizontaly the start of the loop to seperate it from the loop brackets.
