Help with Automation Please

So yea, this is probably pretty basic but I can't seem to wrap my head around it.

First off, I'm using Logic 8 with a Virus TI desktop - fast intel mac etc...

I am trying to automate parameter changes using touch mode, like I would with any soft synth. It's always been simple enough, put the channel in touch mode, press play and twist the knobs....

For some reason the it won't record the automation....?

Any help, please?

I'd love some help on that same topic as well.
I'm both new to logic and my virus, it's only 1 week old. I didn't really get deep to automation with the ti, but i managed to do some touch mode automation with knob twisting. I think that was on track 1. Then I tried to to do the same, didn't work. I read somewhere that you can't touch automate any parts but the frist one, and that if u want to automate the rest you need to draw the automation in track 1....I could be wrong, so yeah, extra info on that would be nice.

i think it applies to logic 7, but could work in 8?
