Hello,

I'm a guitarplayer and i play improvised music. I'm most definately a noob concerning synths and stuff, so be warned ;-) I recently saw the
video of richard devine using the atomiser software with the Virus TI. I'm totally amazed by the possiblities of this software. I
would like to know what kind of equipment i would need to use this
software live. I want to be able to process my own live loops (I use a Boss RC-20loopstation)and the sounds
coming from the mics of the other instruments (saxophone, drums....)in the band in real time. I'm especially interested in the virus Ti snow, since it's very portable...

Thanks in advance!

Koenraad

Hiya Koe, Atomizer hasn't been released yet. Access stated Q2 2008.

As it currently stands, the effect will only be used on the audio-inputs of the TI.

So anything with a signal that is "line-level" will work (like CD players, synths, etc.). The LoopStation should be fine.

You wont be able to plug microphones into the TI directly. You will need a pre-amp to bring them up to line-level first. I see the LoopStation has a microphone input so you should probably be able to use that, before plugging the LoopStation into the TI.

Regards software, I'm not sure if it's 100% self contained within the TI, or whether the software is needed alongside the TI. We'll have to confirm this.

Welcome to the forum. :)

(I deleted your other thread as it was a duplicate).

hey ,

thanks for the quick reply!

So maybe it's best to buy a little mixer with a preamp to connect the mics (and maybe the loopstation too)? Any suggestions for mixers? Also, on the atomizer-video, devine is using the keys of the keyboard (of the polar TI) as controllers. Since the TI Snow doesn't have a keyboard, do you have an idea how you'd control atomizer it on the snow? Would i have to buy an additional midi-controller?

Thanks again,

koenraad

I don't know what kind of budget you're working with, but as far as mixers go, those little Tapco cheapies aren't so bad for the money. I use an ASHLY LX-308B for live use which is a single space, rackmount, stereo line level mixer with balanced/unbalanced 1/4" inputs. Two of the channels have extra gain so you can use them as dynamic microphone inputs if you have an XLR - 1/4" cable. It sounds fantastic, but they sell for around $500.

I think the Snow will be able to control Atomizer to a degree, but you'll get a lot more out of a separate MIDI controller. Maybe you really want the Polar!:-D
