i'm thinking of getting a nord, but not quite sure which one. i'll be able to play with the 2x today, but not the 3 so i can't really tell the difference myself. from what i know the 3 has an amazing user interface, but a lot of people say it doesn't sound like a 1 or 2. so, when i play with the 2x again should i assume it sounds nearly identical to 3?
really appreciate a quick response, since i'll be checking out the 2x today, and if liking it, i'll buy it. :D
thanks,
adrian

btw, got rid of my m-audio POS (piece of sh#$) and replaced with with apogee ensemble. god what a difference! made the mackies sound like half decent monitors!

Get a 3, i had a 3. But i have never heard a 1/2 so i couldnt say how good they sound, but the interface is so nice on the 3, looks so beutiful in the dark, so youl love it more. i dunno why they'd make a newer one which sounded worse, maybe it's just a subtle difference.

Just buy both and have the best of both worlds!

;)

Congrats on the NL2X; please let us know how you like it!

I've owned both the Nord Lead 1 and the Nord Lead 3.

The Nord Lead 3 has the most intuitive programming interface that I've ever come across but the overall sound quality falls short ov the unique sound that you can get from the Nord 1 & 2.

so what are the differences in sound? can someone explain this to me? what makes 1/2 have a better sound, and in what way is it better?

is the virus ti's sound the same as the olders viri's?

didn't have much time playing with the nl2x but so far...
the build quality is ok, keys are somewhat cheap, don't expect the ti quality, but it could be worse, no key pressure.
sound - well it sounds...raw - i like it a lot, you really appriciate the sound with no effects. i only explored 1 and half banks. layering's really cool, ui is really simple and easy to edit, sucks that u can't really sync lfos and arps only retrigger it with a sequencer. did a quick duet with the vi, random banks, stuff sounded great, ppl say that the virus and nl go well togehter - i'm yet another person that says they do.
right now i'm creating a logic NL2x enviroment, aka copy/paste patch names...what a pain in the ass.
so if someone needs it when i'm done, just msg me.

btw they had a polar in the store, white looks really nice, but they keys are not to my liking. unless u spend 3k for some workstation, getting TIs qality keys on a synth i nearly impossible. Polar interest gone:)

cheers

The thing about the Nord 3 and Nord 1/2 sound difference: Obviously the resolution in the Nord 3 is higher but for some reason, perhaps the harmonic distortion, I find the Nord 1/2 to have more ov a unique tone that is characteristic ov what people refer to as the "nord" sound.
