Dude! I love your use of gear junkie acronyms, I learned so much (about myself?) reading through these:

CRAPS = constantly reading and posting syndrome
gal = gear acquisition list
girl = gear I really love
G.A.S. = Come on now, everyone on this forum has had gas at least once.

That's cool you have taken the route you have through synthesis and production. My route is similarly long and convoluted but I'll save that for another day. I did some research on Ardour as I want to setup a Linux box. My friend at work got me hooked on the idea of using MINT Linux, but my older brother (mega-fucking-guru-Linux-hippie-database-sorcerer) says I should use GENTOO instead. We'll see soon as I have a PC that's targeted for lobotomization and re-generation in the next few weeks.

I've been interested to try out ZynSubAddFX (the free VST Linux soft synth) because it is supposed to sound totally kick ass. Do you recommend any VSTs that run on Linux at this time?

Also, isn't there another product similar to Ardour called Rosegarden? Are those two basicaly the Cubase/ProTools camps of the Linux world?

Regarding getting a sequencer that runs on Mac and Linux, I can't help you there. But, if you are interested in checking out a very stable audio/MIDI sequencer (legit) for Mac at a ridiculously low price then please PM me for details.

I'm totally re-engineering my gear this coming weekend and will post pictures. They will be good for a laugh if anything, especially those taken after my 8th or 9th beer...

Nice to have you on the forum, I wish you the best of luck in your musical endeavors.

Cheers,

-Alex

Good to go, Hashidity!

Congrats on your new Snow; I'm sure the two of you will get along lovely.

Yep, I've heard of Renoise, if you like it go for it, it's all about what your creative workflow digs.

The whole Linux thing will get sorted out, just give it time. Things tend to move a little slowly when there's not billions of dollars behind them, but they ultimately get sorted out. It's amazing how much Linux has already. OpenOffice, EduBuntu for kids and education users, MINT, Gentoo, it's all good stuff.

;)

(P.S. Jamming out on my JV1080 right now; check out the "Acid Experience" bank, it's free online!) :)
